Wrong.

Cena did great. Rock was bad.

What was bad about it?

The Rock sounded different after Cena gave him that verbal beat down. His cadence was different...it seemed faster to me. If that wasn't him being legitimately pissed off then he is a better actor than his movies tend to suggest.

It was a promo saying he came back and made things trend on Twitter.

Michael Cole loves that. But no smart person cares about Rock being Captain Catchphrase.

But it all worked well together. Without that type of promo Cena's promo would have not been nearly as good. I think they complimented each other perfectly.

That's what I thought as well.

I've seen The Game Plan and The Tooth Fairy. He isn't that good an actor.

Maybe.

Maybe it was bad on design. But I'll give Vince and whoever credit. I'm rooting for Cena and I never thought that was possible.

Yes.

Cena is far and away the more likeable guy in this feud and it isn't even close. This is like heel Rock showing up in Toronto to run down Hogan. Only difference is, Rock isn't dissing the fans this time.

on efnet irc's #wrestling it was a decidedly different take/vibe on the promos last night. everyone was on the rock's nuts (largely because of cena/wigger hate) and during the rock's promo they were all going nuts saying that he BURIED cena.... i think that rock initially came out and went after CM punk (who was on record once talking about how he doesnt know why dewayne comes back to the WWE when he doesnt need it and he's all bigtime not really palling it up with other talent backstage and he's not putting anyone over taking $$$ from the guys who need it, etc.... recently there were more "anonymous" comments from a WWE guy and they sounded a lot like what punk said, except with the added part of "we know dewayne will do the job at mania, but what's the point of it really?)

maybe i was a product of my surroundings, but i got the vibe that rock pretty sufficiently buried cena and when cena came out it was that 8 year old POOP joke vibe and it was facepalm city cuz while the rock was going on and on about dumb shit, granted, calling cena an out and out bitch was something that many of the anti-cena types could warm up to.

even if it was a promo, maybe the ppl in #wrestling just got off to someone saying what they feel about cena... even if it's just being used to hype a match @ mania.

I did totally forget Rocky taking a shot at Punk at the beginning of the promo. That was fantastic. It thought considering the circumstances, Rock was still good, but not awesome. I assume he was handed a promo 1-2 hours before he went out there. I'm also very confused as to who writes whos promos nowadays. I've heard Punk blame creative before for scripting and all sorts of other stuff and then there's a video from a few days ago with him saying how he can say whatever he wants and rips up scripts if he wants and he's cool because he does things old school on the fly. Seems like he wants it both ways.

There's also the deal with Punk and the ice cream bars and the Fruity Pebbles but I'm saving that for an impending Punk rant I have a bad feeling may come shortly after Mania (I'm letting things play out). Sure Rock wrote some notes down, who cares. Jericho did it a month ago, but instead of hiding it he held his hand in front of his face and no one said a word. Problem for me is the content of the promos, not the delivery. I'd much rather see average Rock once in a while than Kane and the pit to hell in the main event. They need to start working on the angle where Randall puts over Swagger at Mania.

Given that sini was involved in the initial conversation there isn't really a reason to say it again. IMU seems to have stopped, which I respect.

I kind of like what they are doing with the Miz character. He is having a breakdown - can take his character in a few new directions with this angle.

Viewership was nearly identical to last week's post-Elimination Chamber program. Raw averaged 4.65 million viewers compared to 4.63 million last week. The first hour averaged 4.70 million viewers before declining to 4.59 million viewers.

WWE News: Raw TV ratings report - did Rock's return boost ratings Monday night?

Feb 28, 2012 - 6:08:29 PM

CLICK TO EMAIL ARTICLE... OR SPREAD THE WORD BELOW...

By James Caldwell, PWTorch assistant editor

WWE Raw on Monday, February 27 featuring The Rock's big return scored a 3.13 rating, down from a 3.24 rating last week. It's not clear if the rating includes the 20-minute over-run for Rock's return segment.

Raw's viewership was nearly identical to last week's show the night after the Elimination Chamber PPV. Raw averaged 4.65 million viewers (vs. 4.63 million last week). The first hour averaged 4.70 million viewers (vs. 4.67 million last week) and the second hour declined to an average of 4.59 million viewers (vs. 4.59 million last week).

Raw's second hour continued its weekly battle with History Channel's programming, which ranked #1 on cable TV up against Raw, which ranked #3 in overall viewers. Raw did rank #1 on cable TV in key demographics, but the second hour drop in viewership continues to be a concern.

Raw's demographic ratings were up and down compared to last week. Males 18-34 and males 12-34 were up compared to last week. However, the two extremes of adults 18-49 and teen males 12-17 were down. Worth factoring in is whether the Daytona 500 on Monday night drew adult males 18-49 and over 49 away from Raw, which typically occurs when Raw is opposite big sporting events.

I think the Rock will probably win, but I am with you Terry's Peeps, I want Cena to win.

It's almost like his promo's have gone back to when he was the Doctor of Thugonmics, but without the rapping.

To add to the heat, after Cena left and the Rock was done with his promo, if you read lips, looked like he called Cena an M'fer.

To add, to the Cena-Rock heat.

Hear are some tweets from Jim Ross and Mick Foley.

Additionally, JR posted the following on Twitter concerning the John Cena/Rock feud:

"@JohnCena calling @TheRock a "SOB" tonite shocked me & made me uncomfortable. Sounded more personal than in a professional context...IMO."

"It's getting personal...@JohnCena & @TheRock...legit. Guaranteed. No BS."

When asked by a fan whether there is legit heat between Cena and Rock, JR said:

"If there wasn't before tonight, there certainly seems to be now."

Mick Foley Tweeted the following in response to the Rock/Cena confrontation last night:

"That promo felt kind of uncomfortable to watch. Not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing."

If this isn't a long term thing, then there's no reason Rock wins at Mania.

Exactly what Rock and Cena want to happen going into this match.

JR and Nut know how the game is played, they want this to be big as well.

Would you guys expect the ratings to improve going forward with Rock, Taker, and HBK?

Or do you think they continue hovering in the high 2/low 3 range?

And is that an indication, along with the low Survivor Series buyrate, that WWE has its audience and bringing big names back won't drastically increase that number?

I don't know about the ratings improving much, Triple H and Undertaker has already taken place twice before, and with Rock not being there all the time, could be hard to sustain the audiences week to week.

I would put the Survivor Series low buyrate on the Booking, Rock-Cena vs Miz-R-Truth, if you put Rock-Cena as a tag team, should have been against a stronger team of either 3 guys( Like Hogan/Warrior vs Slaughter and his people) or guys that people know( Like DX).

It's hard to tell on the audience, because it's Wrestlemania and some people order that no matter what, now with the other coverage they will get since it's the Rock, possibly ESPN, Access Hollywood, that should add to the buyrate.

To add to other people covering, what if Shaq gets involved somehow, keep hearing diffrent stories what's going on with him.

Also Terry's Peeps, you put if it isn't a long term thing, no Reason for the Rock wins, it is in his hometown and when the big stars come back, most of the time they win. I would say they send Rock out a winner. In this big match, do you see the Rock jobbing to Cena.
