Another one of my childhood crushes. Just watched a biography thing on him a few weeks ago and I tape the Monkees. Yes, I know it's DVR or whatever. Sad.

They were on at noon when I was about 4 or so. My mom had the records. Went and saw him in Wheeling about 12 years ago. Sad thing was he seemed to be a little prickishin some ways.

I saw him about 12 years ago or so at Festival of the Lakes or Summerfest in Hammond or whatever it's called now. He still put on a pretty good show at the time. On a tangent, one of my favorite Monkees tunes is Valleri which features Glen Campbell on the guitar part.

Nobody gives The Monkees enough cred for being actual musicians. I know most of their early stuff was written by others, but they were definitely good performers. I never thought that Davy would be the first to go. R.I.P., DJ

Nobody from the 60's really die. They all live in my mind.
I have seen Davy Jones perform 2 times. He wasn't blessed with
a great voice and it was really Mickey Dolenz that carried that
group vocally(saw him last year,very good). I was shocked when I just heard this news on
of all things "EXTRA". it was the 3rd story behind JLo's nipple
and the new DWTS cast. THAT in itself is sad. Fucking Mario Lopez!

In 1967,the Monkees sold more albums than the Beatles AND Rolling Stones combined.
They had Boyce & Hart and Neil Diamond for song writers. Greatest "fake" band of
all time.
