Chavas Tacos, La Pasadita, TBK

La Pasadita used to have sesos tacos, don't know if they've brought them back.

Found my old review:
Barbacoa was what I was thinking - it tasted like shitty pot roast. Greasy and not tasty at all.
Steak was fine - nothing to make a special trip for.
Milanesa Torta was average.

Only one I go to is the original, the small yellow building on Ashland. I know they sell Barbacola, but never seen it. They also sell Sesos and Stuffed Peppers, but the only thing I have ever seen is Burritos and Tacos.

Had a taco at the one on Irving. It was OK, but just not the same

I went across the street - apparently, the wrong place.

Yes. At a risk of blaspheming, I like the one on the west side of the street.

Of course you dont have to have gone to Mexico in order to know a good taco, but if you think a good taco has sour cream, tomato's, an orange cheese and lettuce, your opinion is in the B Class category.

Been to the Paco's Tacos on Archer and about 45th several times. Good stuff.

A second place that had awesome Al Pastor tacos, Carmela's Taqueria can be found at 1202 W Lawrence just West of Broadway. Small place. Great fresh carrot juice as well.

This thread will have zero legitimacy until Mr. Fealz posts his thoughts...with appropriate pictures. Where he been?

Solo cebolla y cilantro. Si parece como un gringo, a veces te dan lechuga, tomates y crema.

Taqueria Uptown is usually my go-to for basic tacos de asada. Sometimes I go to one of the El Pueblito locations on Touhy. They're both about equidistant from my house. Good pibil tacos. I'm a fan of La Pasadita too, but not all of them are equal. I also like La Palapita on Milwaukee & Hutchinson. The best greasy chips anywhere. I never buy tacos from El Famous but they do have a good chicken soup. You can make several chicken tacos from it and still have a lot of broth with chicken and vegetables and it comes with a side of rice for about 4 bucks.

Willing to compare visas on trips to Mejico with Fealz....I know he is the world traveler, but if I include those 'Day Trips" to mexico, putting my total around ....70?

As Joe Orr says NO CREMA...

Nothing worse than someone talking up a place and they have ground beef as the meat in the taco..sour cream....ughhh

Yeah but Fealz gives us pics too. He does good work on the local fair. It isn't all Romanian hottest and a bus ride through Buenos Aires.

Side topic: what place has the best fish tacos?
I've had more bad than good but I keep trying

For lunch today I went to the nearby taqueria which has really great steak & chicken and the tortas are really good
But i decided to get a couple fish tacos since they had a board up w/ lent specials
These were literally Gorton's frozen fish triangles on a tortilla. Really disappointed.

I know Chiks N Salsa allegedly has good ones, I found them to be just OK and only the grilled ones. the slaw they use is really heavy and with the fried fish its just way too much

I grew up 3 blocks away from there in the shadow of the bus barns. Of course back then the restaurant was known as Uncle Lou's Sandwiches.

How the hell did you get to be a Cub fan? There's only one thing worse than a South side Cub fan. That's a North side Sox fan.

It was more of an exposure issue due to day games as the Cubs were on WGN every day when I would get home from school. I blame that for my Hot Carl / Cleveland Steamer love too.
