That was my way to relax after work for quite a while when Bravo was running them. Came home to 2 eps every day on the DVR :-). Finally just sucked it up and bought the series a few years ago.

I'm sure some of you might remember David Stein. He had the late night show on the Score before the Grobber rose from his phoenix ashes. Stein used to say he watched the West Wing every day when he had some kind of nervous breakdown and was unemployed. He credited the show with restoring him to sanity.

Cue spacy new age background music.

Tell me something good about your life.

West Wing: saving crappy overnight radio hosts from going on killing sprees since 1999.

Wow, how could I forget David Stein. I can't give the guy too much grief, it's overnight radio. Hell, Art Bell was a whack-a-loon overnight for decades. At least Stein made people feel good about themselves.

Episode help: I'm trying to figure out which episode it is where it highlights the latter part of Bartlet's first Presidential run. It's where Josh is celebrating the Illinois win and his father dies. Bartlet meets him at O'hare airport. I don't think its the first episode of the second season.

Rob Lowe leaving the show hurt a lot. People point to Sorkin alone. W/o Lowe leaving, we wouldn't have been stuck w/ Will Bailey.

It's the season 2 premiere "In the Shadow of 2 Gunmen" that flashes back to when Leo convinced Jed to run for President as well as the campaign.

The specific scene you're talking about is in part 2.

I actually liked Bailey...sure, Molina was no Lowe, but he still had some good parts in there...

...one of my faves was him and Toby writing the President's speech when Bingo Bob became VP...

'In a triumph of the middling, a nod to mediocrity, and with gorge rising, it gives me great nausea to announce Robert Russell --- Bingo Bob, himself --- as your new Vice President!

Will was good until he went to work for Russell.

Then things started getting dumb.

Things got really dumb w/ the Donna storyline where she was upset that Josh was holding her back in her job. A college drop-out who is lucky to be an asst. anywhere close to the WH is complaining about not growing.

He went to work for Russell and they basically abandonded his job, which was Sam's job.

And then they had Rena Toby's de facto deputy. She was nice to look at. But WTF?
