Rodrigo Lopez will open the spring season for the Cubs on the mound today in a match up vs the bitter spring training rival Athletics. Soto is out because his groin hurts and he is a pussy but that aside here is your starting lineup.

Soriano lf
Stewart 3b
Castro ss
LaHair 1b
Byrd cf
Dejesus rf
Baker dh
Barney 2b
Castillo C

List of available pitchers:
Marmol
Rhee
Dolis
Castillo
Mateo

Now go get those A's!!

Rodrigo has a no hitter going through 2 innings
LaHair has struck out as has Stewart in their first AB's of the spring.

Good to hear that he's already in mid-season form then.

I hope by mid-season he is on another team's roster. I know he is decent offensively but I just do not like the guy. I really wish they could find a way to pry Hannigan away from Cinci.

Beliveau was awful. 3 walks and a base hit. Very bad spring debut.

After Rhee gave up damn near 7 runs, 4 his and 3 Belliveau's....the kids have entered the lineup and the Cubs have tied the game. Rizzo and Jackson got things started. Wellington hit a bomb earlier in his bid to take over catching duties from that pathetic lard ass Soto.

Are they thinking of using Soriano as the leadoff guy again? :?

This is what Sveum said regarding this...

Quote:
"The one thing about Soriano is that his numbers as a leadoff hitter are pretty good in his career whether he's leading off a game or leading off an inning," Sveum said. "If you want to get into the details of why you might come up with something like that, it could be as simple as that.

"We don't have the bona fide guys at any position in the order. We don't have any guys that drive in runs in the big leagues. (Starlin) Castro is obviously probably the most sound hitter we have to hit third. Do we have that base stealer, leadoff and on-base guy? (David) DeJesus probably fills that as much as anything. But we don't have a lot of cut and dried spots to say, 'This guy is this' and 'This guy is that.' "

From that I am going to say he wants DeJesus to be the guy but he is going to make him earn it this spring.

If they have Soriano in 4th, he'll be leading off the 2nd, 5th, and 8th innings anyway.

The Cubs get a chance to avenge yesterdays loss as they once again take on the Athletics though today's game will feature a split squat version of the A's lineup.

Rodgrigo Lopez was flawless in his 2 innings of work yesterday. Let's see if Dempster can match today. Here is the rest of the Cubs lineup. Go away Dewitt. This looks kind of like a quade lineup.

Campana cf
Barney 2b
Castro ss
LaHair 1b
Baker rf
Johnson lf
Clevenger c
DeWitt dh
Vitters 3b

Corpas sucked today. I was kind of hoping he had a strong spring and regained his old form. His Cub debut was not strong.

After the guys trying to win a bullpen spot shit themselves the last few days against the A's it is on to the Rockies as the Cubs look for their first win of the young spring season. These are the guys that will try to get things started before the bullpen eventually gives up a dozen runs.

DeJesus RF
Byrd CF
DeWitt 2B
Soriano DH
Stewart 3B
Lake SS
Rizzo 1B
Castillo C
Jackson LF
Garza P

Jackson, Lake and Soriano not batting lead off are my favorite things about this lineup....though there is no reason Blake Borland needs to be batting 3rd with Jackson last.

I would imagine Sveum wants to get the guys at the top of the order AB's and get them out while giving the guys at the bottom some extra PT.

Keep em coming. Push Byrd to the trade market and claim your future home for the next decade in the Cubs outfield.

After letting the Rockies have it yesterday in the first win of the Cubs young spring it is on to the Royals. Even though some people are oblivious to the fact that Sharkzilla was an All-American WR for The Fighting Irish of Notre Dame the tall, flame throwing right-handed pitcher will still get his game face on as he starts on the mound in this afternoons ballgame. The lineup that will propel him to victory or hang his great effort out to dry is as follows:

Sappelt cf
Johnson lf
Castro ss
LaHair 1b
Ha dh
Barney 2b
Tolbert 3b
Clevenger c
Mather rf

Rember....you only get to play one game this year on March 7th....make it count. Joe Mather 4 AAA MVP!!!

I wish Shark would cut his hair. Looks ridiculous. Same with the AJ Hawk and the Matthews sisters.

AJ cut his hair. Shark looks the worst because of the mustache/chin music thing he has going on. He looks like a god damn pirate.

This is the most important game of the Cubs' spring schedule so far.

Things will be learned today...important things. Will Sappelt prove he is worthy of a roster spot thus relegating Campana to a more lucrative career as a jockey? Today may tell us this very thing if not more.

The surging Cubs head into today's game with the Mariners riding high on a 2 game winning streak. Chris Volstad, the tall, right handed power arm acquired in the Carlos Zambrano please go away trade will be on the mound trying to match the outstanding effort put forth by the Shark yesterday. Speaking of the Cubs trading players that have worn out their welcome.....the Mariners should be spotted 5 runs just for being kind enough to take that miserable piece of shit Milton Bradley last off season. The lineup that will ensure the Cubs an over .5OO record in this young Cactus League spring season is as follows:

DeJesus RF
Byrd CF
Castro SS
Stewart 3B
Soriano LF
Rizzo 1B
Baker @b
Johnson DH
Castillo C

I see Smoke Dog's vagg is still hurting him. He has surely gained 1O-15 lbs in the last week.

The Championship foundation is constructed right now and 1 game at a time. Swaimer and Theo&co are currently determining who will be the part of this foundation and who will be put into the concrete mix.
