I like Matt, but, there's a reason there are "lines" and why they shouldn't be crossed. If it's truly "win at all costs", then, why not go helmet-to-head against the QB when he's standing on the sidelines between possessions? Why not have the hotel cook poison him the night before? Why not pass a note to him threatening his family?

Are those things crossing the line? Or, crossing a different line, perhaps? See, that's the thing about lines. Everyone can't have different ones. That's why we all agree what the lines are, and then, we don't cross them.

It was pretty clear in that game. IIRC there were no penalties for the hits.

yeah i saw on nola.com that it says they're still working on a deal. i thought if you got the tag that meant there wouldn't be a deal...i don't really know what to think of that. but they had said that the tag on brees would be a bad thing for the saints.

after what has just happened...i really think benson should've given brees whatever he wanted. he's the only bright spot on that team right now.

Saints owner Tom Benson found out about the bounty program, told Loomis to kill the bounty program. Loomis took no action.

if the owner knew and the GM knew, what are the chances that Sean Payton did not know.

now coaches will just play dumb and the players will dish out the money for the big hits..the nfl can not stop players from having cash incentives with each other. this changes nothing.

Now Every former team Williams coached is coming out against him.

If I am the Rams, I would be mad, because Williams will more than likely have to be fired or at least suspended, and you will have to deal with the fall out.

The Rams are thinking we got the Defensive Coordinator we wanted and now have to scramble to find a Suitable Backup and most of the guys have probably been hired already.

The Rams head coach is going to take some heat as well due to Williams being one of his guys back in the day when this mess got started.

I think there's a difference between what is legal and what someone ought to do. Would the Saints be mad if Drew Brees was laid out like Warner after an interception? Do people remember Favre's purple ankle?

Bowen has no problem with this whole thing because he was on defense. Had he been a quarterback or wide receiver and known somebody was going to lay him for a thousand bucks, maybe he thinks differently about this.

Your questions about my objectivity aside, the Saints never seem to have risen in the pantheon of dirty teams like say....the Patriots, Lions, the Denver OL, the Steelers LBs, Buddy's Eagles (or Bears). Although, I have been waiting to hear Darren Sharper's thoughts on this...

And besides, once Marshawn Lynch humiliated the Saints, the notion of even a dirty Saints "defense"...or a successful bounty list from that impotent bunch became laughable. They were (w/the exception of Malcolm Jenkins) toothless, out of place and not exactly a fearsome group.

I dont think the coach should be administering the funds but if the LBs or S want to get together and throw in a grand each to the man that knocks the QB out, so be it. Providing that they are legal hits. If they play dirty they should be suspended and fined accordingly.
