Shane has been a good foil for Rick but it has almost played itself out. They will introduce a new
character or two that will challenge him. I haven't read the comics but sounds like a guy by the
name of The Governor is on his way and may be a bit more powerful and scary than Shane ever
could be. I love this show.

Yeah it will turn to more of a traditional external foe for the group rather than the internal one.

And if Michonne is coming as well, that'll add another bad ass to the group.

My concern with The Governor from what I hear is that he sounds really over the top and not like a believable real person.

IMO, there are already a couple characters like that in the show. Daryl comes off as a little "forced" at times, what with the stereoptypical hick badass schtick.

I didn't mind the show keeping Shane around longer than the comic did because who else is Rick going to talk to? There is no Tyrese on the show. I'm glad that Michonne will be joining the show as she is a pivotal character in the comics.

I think for action sake, the second half has been a little better. However, these writers cannot write a dramatic scene to save their life. How is we are 16 or so episodes into a show and there are very few characters we really care about?

I'm completely spoiled on the rest of the season (i'll hold off posting for those mildly spoiled). If they finish the season the way it predicted, it should be a nice conclusion to a shaky second season.

With only two episodes left this last episode made things real interesting... especially with the
inpending death of Shane likely coming in the finale. This season has been great. Making Carl
a bit more ballsy really makes it interesting. I was yelling for him to get away from that zombie
stuck in the mud.. Ended up biting the group in the ass.

I was wondering if that is what the writers wanted us to believe: that the zombie somehow followed Carl back to the farm despite not really seeing where Carl ran. A little bit of a stretch if that was the case.

I think it was more of an example of not taking care of business coming back and biting them in the ass. Comparable to how Rick let Randall live.

And the previews make it seem like Randall got the drop on Shane and shit is comin' to a head. Should have killed Randall, it seems pretty simple. Andrea's change of heart was a little strange as well.

I'm glad Dale is dead, he sucked and I let out a raucous cheer when his guts were being pulled out of him.

Something tells me Shakes is going to hate every direction the show has taken.

I am interested to hear Shakes take on things. He has been a good contributor to talking
about this series as he has a lot of knowledge on the original comic series. This is definitely
my favorite show on TV right now and I am sad that there are only 2 episodes left. Just happy
that Game Of Thrones will be back soon to take its place.

If we are to assume that Shane does die by the end of this season - which the leaked story from Amazon.com certainly implies - the group obviously has to leave the farm for this to happen, right? I don't see a situation where Rick kills Shane or something while still at the farm.

Isn't their next stop the prison?

I'm not very sure where the next stop will be. I'm thinking Randall's group is led by the governor, and we have some grand showdown at the end of the season that will define most of the plot going into next season.

I doubt it. This season will end with the farm being overun by zombies, not Randall's group. That's pretty obvous from the previews I've seen which clearly show a swarm of about 50 zombies breaking through a fence at the farm.

Randall's group being led by the Governor is not outside the realm of possibility, but I don't think we'll meet the governor till sometime in the middle of season 3 the earliest.

With only 2 eps left we still need to see the death of Shane, the overun of the farm and the introduction of Michonne. That's more than enough material for 2 eps.

At this point I would be surprised if they even find the prison this seaosn...my guess is season ends wtih them hitting the road after the farm is overrun. Maybe we'll get Wilshire Estates on the way to the prison at the start of season 3 and then they'll stumble upon the prison after a couple eps.

I didn't really have a problem with them offing Dale. The way the tv show had turned Dale into a loathsome one-note charicature of his comic counterpart was such a joke that I'm actually glad they got rid of him so we don't have to see him anymore in this form.

For me, the biggest surprise of the season has been the longevity of the black guy. I thought for sure he was cannon fodder and would meet a grizzly zombie death at any moment, yet he's managed to completely disappear as the season has gone. He's become even more irrelavant than he was last season and yet he's still amongst the living. I'm holding onto hope he bites it in the finale.

I think Randall is pure evil. The scene where he is talking to Carl and says (paraphrasing), "You can come back to me with my people and we can take care of you.." I always took Randall as he first appeared, a local that got swept up in the group. However, why would he want to take Carl with him? Or why would he want to leave? Why isn't he begging to stay part of the group?

I didn't think of hte possibility that Randall kills Shane. If it does happen, Rick sure has a lot of 'splaining to do. Rick will have a lot of blood on his hands.

However, if they start making changes for the sake of saving money or pussing out on some of the more controversial scenes from the book I'll be pretty pissed. They already did that imo by not casting the two twin boys. Their fate in the books is pretty amazing and would've been extremely controversial on tv.

yep, just as I suspected/feared, they pussed out with Shane's death. Talk about a huge sell out move by the network/producers. This show sucks compared to the books. Too bad, its a popular show and fans who haven't read the books have no idea how much cooler that version is vs the version they've been subjected to.

I can all but guarantee we'll never see a mom holding a newborn baby get shotgunned in the torso and that makes me sad.

The writers tried to give some lip-service to the books and weakly tie them together somewhat by having Carl learn to shoot....by shooting Shane........when Shane is a walker.......which his how they finally find out that you turn when you die regardless.

Eh. Taken on its own, the show is average to really good TV. Compared with the books....well, it's average. At least in my opinion.

Didn't they already figure that out by seeing the guards with no bites?

It is what it is.

I agree with SomeGuy. They've already strayed from the book prior to this, so can't be too surprised. I don't think having Rick kill Shane was a network thing.

no it wasn't. It was a terrible scene. Carl just happens to be walking around in the dark in a field???? The night after Dale got gutted doing the same thing...and the day after he already nearly got himself killed sneaking off??? Yeah, that was quality writing there.

I'd go as far as to say it was one of the worst scenes I've ever seen forced into a tv show.

I kind of agree with shakes on this one. I've never read the books, but that final scene was just weird.

It gets explained as to why Carl was there and what he was gonna do next week according to clip from Talking Dead.

Huh? Me and you must've watched different versions of Talking Dead cause the clip I saw had none of that.
