That just smells of Will Ferrell comedy...which can be really bad.

Kenny Powers is a text book Will Farell creation. Funny sometimes, stupid most of the time, no growth and gets old pretty quick. Just like this show, which sucks because if it was handled correctly it could be a pretty could show.

Instead it's one and day joke crap.

but McBride can pull of that joke pretty well...is pretty much all that matters.

The writing outside of Kenny, could be done by HS kids.

it does have some groan inducing will ferrellness to it, even from jason sudekis. but the show is more like a portrait of absolute trash, and that seems to be jody hill's specialty. it's not really a jokey sitcomy show.

that being said, i'm disappointed the show hasn't made more out of the characters' situation. i didn't care much for season 2 because it was definitely getting bogged down with the improv shit that went nowhere.

so far i think this season's OK but it still doesn't compare to season 1.

i agree with someguy that this premise wasn't meant to be stretched out that long but they could've gotten more comedy out of it than they have.

Actually had high hopes for this year after episodes 1-2, but now it is trailing off. Then again, I was nursing a couple handles of Bacardi during that 2 week period.

Watched the latest episode last night and it was ok. Probably the best episode thus far.
His conversations with the Russian pitcher were all pretty funny. I thought it was funny
he dug a hole at the beach for his baby son and put a towel over him while he went
body boarding. McConaghey (sp) was pretty good as well.

Really good episode. Loved Stevie and Maria cleaning up Kenny's place to that song "Open your eyes", or whatever it is called. I just know it from Revenge of the Nerds.

Never thought this series could get worse than when they were in Mexico but somehow it
has really managed to disappoint. I think I got one or two half chuckles out of the latest
episode. The baby thing has really helped kill this season. I am almost hoping that
Kenny's dad and half-wit brother stick around for a few episodes. Interesting choice in
the casting of Kenny's mom there at the end (Lily Tomlin).

What happened to my show? Did they forget to be funny?

I won't try to dissect why the show is getting awful. It just is. Be funny.

Just saw the epidsode last night where Kenny's buddy Shane (played by Jason Sudekis) dies. That was the tackiest, funniest and most "Kenny Powers" speech/eulogy ever!

Not sure what season or episode this was. A guy at one of my jobs put it on a channel to watch.

That was from this season Jeff. Maybe 2 episodes ago. The eulogy part with the boom box
was pretty funny.

Series finale was last night. Pretty strange last 10 minutes. Overall I enjoyed the series and one liners
but the last two seasons were pretty spotty. Definitely a pretty funny character at times though.

i am hit or miss on the show...mostly miss. I did turn it on last night and caught the last 15 minutes....pretty weird. I thought what he did in the game...walking off the mound was BS / weird / ????....then it only got more weird from there.

I dont hate the show...but it hasn't gotten better by any means.

You won't have to worry about it anymore as this show is now over. This season had maybe 3 episodes
that were decent.

Wanted to wait until I finished the show before giving a full review of it.

Really...the best way I can put it: it's a disappointment on a lot of levels. The character and premise were incredibly promising. I still think the 1st season is damn good. It sets up a good story. But where it went...lot of uninteresting characters, uninteresting and predictable situations, and just way way too much Kenny improv. Danny McBride doesn't always require a script to be funny but Hill & McKay really should've thought of a narrative arc for such a good character.

There were so many places to take Kenny Powers and all they could come up with was a shoddy Mexico excursion which yielded very few laughs, and going back to North Carolina where not a lot happened there, either.

I actually thought him dying would've been a better option. At least the moral of the story is that if you fuck up enough times life catches up to you.

There was no clear idea here. No clear execution. I think they all thought they could get by with just "being them"--that is, Ferrell, and McBride. But these characters needed something at stake, and something to carry them through. The April/Kenny story wasn't strong enough. And Kenny returning to baseball was extremely cliche'd.

I would've liked to see him stay a gym teacher. He was a lot funnier then.

Overall, there's nothing in this series that couldn't have been summed up in 1 90 minute or 120 minute movie. It was stretched way too thin and it wasn't entertaining enough throughout. Waste of a good character.

:D :D out of :D :D :D :D (overall)

more?

http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1688963/eastbound-and-down-renewed.jhtml

Sometimes the end is just a beginning you thought was the end but you were wrong because you're just not awesome enough to understand stuff. Kenny Powers didn't actually say that, but he might. Because despite seemingly strutting off into the sunset at the end of season three, the trash-talking, watercraft-loving, heat-throwing bundle of hot mess at the center of HBO's "Eastbound and Down"
 is prepping another comeback.

According to Variety, HBO has ordered eight more episodes of the Danny McBride-starring show, ensuring a surprise fourth season next year.

Yes, the spring finale of the show co-produced by Will Ferrell and frequent collaborator Adam McKay appeared to chronicle the end of the Powers saga. Long-suffering assistant Stevie moved out of the Powers Myrtle Beach seaside crash pad, the sex-and-drug-paraphernalia-laden baby room was turned back into a dojo, Kenny was called up to the bigs, smoked a couple of strikes and then walked away and appeared to die in a fiery DUI car crash. But, spoiler alert, he faked his death, got back together with April and finally realized wining isn't everything.

The series' seeming ending wasn't exactly "The Sopranos," but it was (mostly) satisfying for an audience used to audacious and sometimes cringe-inducing hairpin comedic turns.

It sure sounded like that was all she wrote for the fictional author of the rousing inspirational memoir "You're F---ing Out, I'm F---ing In," earlier this year when McBride said he was ready to hang up La Flama Blanca's cleats. "HBO definitely wants us, and [co-creator] Jody Hill and I love writing for the show," McBride told Entertainment Weekly earlier this year before the season finale. "But there is other stuff we'd like to do. Both of us are ready to make jokes concerning people who don't have strange haircuts."

Looks like McBride has another "ass-ton of stupid choices" to make. And for that, we are eternally grateful.

If I stumble across ESPN 1000 and the Bulls reporter Nick Friedell is on a can't stop thinking it's Stevie from Eastbound & Down.
