Ah, there's nothing that says "we're literally up shit creek" like a visit to the medium-sized town on the banks of the big brown Mississippi, especially when the occasion is a game with the odious St. Louis Blues. Hope you like the trap OH EXCUSE ME THE RESPONSIBLE FORECHECK that St. Louis has run to perfection since hiring Ken Hitchcock, which has allowed a replacement-level Brian Elliott and a slightly-above-average Jaroslav Halak to lead the league in fewest goals allowed. Probably because they hardly see any shots.

Even as the Blues are walking roughshod over the league, the Hawks have done acceptably against them, going 2-1 overall and 1-1 in St. Louis. The twofold gameplan here would seem to be busting the trap with plenty of outlet passes, and countering the Blues' inevitable caveman horseshit with necessary asskickings from Messrs. Mayers and Bollig -- the former a longtime Bluenote and the latter a native Saint Louisan, interestingly enough. HAY you know what else would be a good idea? I know it's scary, but maybe we trust Sami Lepisto to skate more than five minutes a night! It's cool that we have Oduya here to eat up 20, 22 a night, but that's not taking minutes off KeithBrook if you still can't trust the third pairing. Come on. I know Lepisto is error-prone, but he's not John Scott.

Probably looking at the same lineup as last time out, so Frolik, Morrison, and SOD are your scratches. Toews might be back for the Rags game.

Hawks are 6th in goals scored at 2.955, Blues 21st at 2.500
Hawks are 22nd in goals allowed at 2.866, Blues 1st at 1.894. Eep. This is after Emery allowed just three goals in 100 minutes, mind you.

Man, I hate this fuckin' team.

I think Bollig may be certifiably crazy.

This Bollig-Reaves fight is sideshow bullshit. Throw both out. This was like 110 feet off the puck! What's the point?

Hahaha I'm sorry but Hometown Hero Brandon Bollig's parents look like such Missouri white trash. Sweet tucked-in sweater, bro.

I knew there was going to be a fight in this game. I had hoped it would be a response to David Backes being a rabbit-punching bitch, not just "energizing" the attending slack-jawed yokels apropos of absolutely nothing.

Well, that was a retarded goal. Not coming back from that.

I promised myself that I would come up with some new Roman Polak material, and here I am 2 days later, having wasted my time programming instead of thinking up eastern European jokes... I'm sorry everyone... :jocolor: :bigsmurf: :hockey: :smurfin: :farao: :queen:

And some food for thought... St Louis, Detroit and Vancouver are neck and neck fighting to lead the Western Conference... my fandom has been destroyed this season

I lived in St. Louis for 5 years, late 80's early '90's. My company had season tickets in the old St. Louis Arena (Checkerdome), 2nd row on the blue line. The Arena was a grand old Hockey arena, not as great as the stadium, but grand nevertheless. I entertained many a customer here & had to temper my love for the Blackhawks in deference to my clients. I recall that the Blues were a decent team then, with Brett Hull, Brendan Shanahan, & Curtis Joseph in the net. The last Blues - Hawks game that I attended, in 1992, one of my customers got so hammered that he walked out of the rest room with his pants & shorts at his ankles & was quickly tackled by Arena security & taken into custody. 3 hours later, I drove him home. He then became one of my best customers. Having said that, I really dislike the Blues & their fans.

It's crazy how much crap the Blues are getting away with tonight. Bolland just got hit in the face with a stick, no call. Seabrook takes a shot in the chops, no call. The little girl named Oshie, no call.

It's all good, Seabrook got a head shot or two on Perron. With his concussion problems, he'll probably be out for the rest of the season...

How does Reaves not get thrown out for that hit? What the hell is going on with the lack of calls?

With the score 3-0 and looking to get worse, this game is gonna get real nasty now.

Blackhawks right back to playing like the league's worst. That was fast.

I don't know if Quenneville is the problem, but Mike Kitchen turns everything he touches to shit.

I heard the Bowmans have another coach looming over practices. Just came over from one of the European league. Shades of Quenneville looming over Savard.

I'm just glad they avoided the shutout. That would've been what, the ninth on the year?

This is not a playoff team. Simple as that.

But they will be in the playoffs, so that makes them a playoff team...simple as that.

False. They've beat them twice this year already.

Last night I blame on coaching. Teams that clog the neutral zone and throw 3/4 guys on the blue line make the Hawks completely worthless. Yet they tried to stick handle or make a 100ft pass for three consecutive periods last night.

The power play is still a joke. I can't believe there are 8 or 9 teams worse. I can't even picture how bad it must look

Interesting and not surprising. The poor power play is the biggest reason why this team sucks. Poor defensive coverage is number 2. After the Detroit game I looked at the standings and the goals for and allowed. The only difference between the Hawks and Wings is the goals allowed. But there are too many games where the power play is crap. I put a lot of this on the coaches. Personally I am sick and tired of line juggling. It obviously has not and does not work.....they end up back where they started.

Still don't know how Sharp's shot did not go in last night. Got to bury that puck.....

"You heard" there is a new guy looming? It's been all over the radio and net the last couple weeks. It's old acquaintance of Scotty from his days in Pittsburgh and Detroit. Problem is (and the huge difference from the Quenville/Savard situation), he's never been a head coach, he's more of a pro-player development type of guy.
