I didn't say anyone did. The deal itself is fine. Two thirds is terrific value considering Miami paid two seconds for him a couple years ago. He offers some big plays, and he'll certainly get a bump from playing with Cutler as opposed to Henne/Moore. But he can be frustrating because he's so ungodly inefficient on a per-play basis. That's all.

True. He does drop balls. I think he's definitely on the tier right below Fitz/Andre/Megatron

I actually think he's a tier below that, but agree to disagree. I obviously am not a Marshall fan, but even I can't argue with two third-rounders, and right now that's all that matters.

Looks like the great Jason Campbell is about to become Cutler's backup.

Your assessment is fair. I think he is one step above Colston and they got him for Colston money. Unlike the available FA, the Bears will never have to pay for his services after the age of 30.

The key for me is that they had to come away from FA with a #1 WR. It didn't look like they would do that a few hours ago. Now they did for a reasonable cost.

Love how the media acts surprised by this trade. You could tell this trade was going to happen back in January. You knew the Bears weren't going to pay for Jackson, and Cutler and Marshall are lovers.

Garcon signed for 5/42.5. He makes half a million less than Marshall. I am thrilled the Bears don't have to pony up top flight money for these middle of the road WR that are left in FA. I'll be interested to see what Jackson gets as it sounds like TB has him all wrapped up

I'm wondering how Lovie is planning to neutralize his value.

Great trade for most teams. We will have to see if the Bears cannot screw this up.

What a start for Phil Emery & the Bear. B Marsh is huge & in Jason Campbell the Bear finally has a quality NFL backup QB. The Bears are instant contenders in the NFC North next year. Can we just skip Baseball & go right to the NFL season?

Temper your enthusiasm for a moment: http://score670.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?f=72&t=68233

Yea, I saw that. Why should that effect the trade? You just wonder if the Bears knew about this incident?

I agree with the props to Hub for wondering why B Marsh came so cheap.

NY Post reports Marshall punched woman in the face at 4 am. Bears were unaware of incident.

You can find a DE to start right away in the draft

1. It's not that easy - see past drafts
2. Even if they did find one, it wouldn't be on par with the overall #1 pick like Williams.

I still want Mario.

True. Obviously you wont get a Mario Williams level talent right away....but DE's I think have a pretty solid record in the draft.

The Dolphins owner recently said that Marshall was on the market with little interest well before the trade with the Bears and that they were going to release him if a trade didn't go down. Way to not do your homework and give up 2 picks!!

Quote:
“[Ross] said they had been shopping [Marshall] for a couple weeks,” Lawrence told Gould. “Nobody would return their phone calls about getting him. If Chicago didn’t take [Marshall] . . . they would have ended up cutting him very shortly after that, and got nothing.”

Can't put too much weight in this. The owner is seeing enormous backlash missing on Manning, Flynn and then trading their only asset. This is simply trying to appease the fanbase by downplaying his value.

If true that sucks a little because the Bears could have saved some money and used the picks. It was worth the risk though.
