With the wide receiver market quickly taking shape, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers landed one of the top prizes: .

The Buccaneers and the free-agent receiver reached a contract agreement, Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reported via Twitter.

ESPN and the San Diego Union-Tribune previously reported that the Buccaneers and Jackson were in negotiations shortly after the free agency period opened at 3 p.m. CT on Tuesday.

Already in the first hour of wheeling and dealing, the Chicago Bears had acquired receiver Brandon Marshall from the Miami Dolphins for two draft picks, and free-agent receiver Pierre Garcon had announced that he'd reached agreement on a deal with the Washington Redskins.

Jackson, 29, has played seven seasons with the Chargers, topping 1,000 yards three times. After missing 11 games in 2010 due to a contract dispute, he had 60 catches for 1,106 yards and a career-high-tying nine touchdowns in 2011.

He played last year with San Diego after the team gave him the franchise tag.

Tight end Kellen Winslow was the Buccaneers' leading pass-catcher last year with 75 receptions. Mike Williams topped the team with 771 receiving years, while Dezmon Briscoe had a team-high six touchdown catches.

I kinda think trading Marshall was for Manning. Rumor was he didn't like him. I think it was on profootballtalk.

Did anyone see the terms of the contract? He's going to get, over 5 years: $55,555,555. That's right, kids, Ocho Cincos.

With the Buccaneers getting Nicks too, if Freeman turns it around, this could be a nice offense, just 2 seasons ago, this was a 10 win team.
