like I said, the $100 isn't the problem, it's the embarrassing discussion of how I spent the $100 and where I am going that night...maybe I'll just say I'm going to The Crew to watch games with my friends. There would be less laughter.

If you are asking would I spend 100 to see the radio people, no, I don't really even listen to the Score. Would I spend 100 to hangout with bf, spmack, pasta and possibly Reason, dolphin, or SSE and having a fun evening out, yeah. I might see them once a year but when I do it's always fun. I probably spend 30-50 when I go out on a normal night, over the course of 4 weeks I can save another 50 just by not getting fast food or pizza once a week. I'm also hoping my husband gets on the fasttrack.

I have no idea what you are trying to say now. I don't really care either though.

At the time of the B&B Roast, $75 was an easy call.
$200 for essentially the same thing is an easy hang-up.

I discuss almost every purchase with my wife. We have a spreadsheet with the ledgers on them and she has the password to it. At any given time, she can simply look up the current balances on any of our accounts. We have a system that is followed pretty closely, and it requires both of us to keep up to date on our ledger.
A few weeks ago, I was doing a job that would require a hammer drill, which sadly, I needed to replace. I budgeted $100, told the wife what I needed and bought a nice Skil 7 amp 1/2 inch power hammer drill.
She wouldn't have said no, and I didn't have to ask, but we still talked about it.

Usually one side is not extremely satisfied.

So far... so good. It worked. We don't spend money we don't have and there's never one of those "oopsie I dropped $400 at (Home Depot or Some Girl Type Shit) and we can't make the mortgage".
If only I could get her to switch to Scotts instead of Cottenelle.

I'm with spaulding though - we talk about a lot more things other than money. Not sure we've ever had a money-related argument. But like Darko and his (way, way, way, way) better half, neither one of us really are spend-crazy on stuff for ourselves. Except beer. And that's usually just me. Maybe I'm setting myself up for a lot of sleeping on the couch in the coming years, but I don't think $100 is a lavish purchase by any means, and I don't think I would ask/talk about it before hand if something like this came up. Now obviously if times were tough or we had to figure out who would watch the kid(s) or something like that, different story. I could easily see myself being asked about something (this, or a ballgame, for example), and just doing it without asking or talking about it first. I don't feel an $80 or 100 purchase should rock the boat at all, and I doubt I would get upset if she did something like that either. Unless it was for a new purse.

....But, maybe this means I'm already on the path for divorce though
