yes, and that was on a friday too. i'm not sure why the extra $25 is sending everyone into a piss and moan contest but i'm definitely not gonna go if everybody's dropping out of it.

like I said, the $100 isn't the problem, it's the embarrassing discussion of how I spent the $100 and where I am going that night...maybe I'll just say I'm going to The Crew to watch games with my friends. There would be less laughter.

Weird, I'm having trouble having the same discussion. I usually do it in stages, but my husband caught on to me. Now I feel like a dork.

Admitting it IS the first step.

These aren't Hall of Fame athletes, or worldwide famous actors, or platinum musicians. These are some guys on the radio...half of which are wrong about things most of the time, and the other half consists of washed up, angry douchebags.

If I'm spending $100, I want it to be worth it. I can hang out with all of you guys at sporting events, bars, bowling...all for cheaper and all are much more enjoyable. As I care nothing for 9/10 of Score personalities...I can't see myself doing this.

edit: However, somebody that does go needs to ask them about my avatar.

WYC you spent that on freaking tail lights? You are a much bigger dork than anybody on this board. Trekkies hope you get laid. You are really not in a position to strongly criticize what anybody else values. Same as DS saying he'd rather by scotch, it's a personal choice.

If you are asking would I spend 100 to see the radio people, no, I don't really even listen to the Score. Would I spend 100 to hangout with bf, spmack, pasta and possibly Reason, dolphin, or SSE and having a fun evening out, yeah. I might see them once a year but when I do it's always fun. I probably spend 30-50 when I go out on a normal night, over the course of 4 weeks I can save another 50 just by not getting fast food or pizza once a week. I'm also hoping my husband gets on the fasttrack.

At the time of the B&B Roast, $75 was an easy call.
$200 for essentially the same thing is an easy hang-up.

I could somewhat accept the "quality over quantity" arguement here, but I felt robbed that night. :x

Are there even tickets available?

I heard Dan Bernstein say they were selling at a "record pace"

Who keeps track of SCORE event ticket sales history and timing?

Maybe.

But I would do it nonetheless.

You would just tell your wife what you did rather than reach a consensus?

So you'd have to ask your wife for permission before spending $100?

Gotcha. You post led me to think you'd not ask or consider her opinion, but you'd simply explain your purchase.

Despite my board past, I'm truly not that abrasive. I'm not going to just do shit because I want to...not when trying to make a relationship work. That money could be better spent doing things together. However, if I had money and really wanted to make a purchase, I'd for sure try to convince the gal.

I discuss almost every purchase with my wife. We have a spreadsheet with the ledgers on them and she has the password to it. At any given time, she can simply look up the current balances on any of our accounts. We have a system that is followed pretty closely, and it requires both of us to keep up to date on our ledger.
A few weeks ago, I was doing a job that would require a hammer drill, which sadly, I needed to replace. I budgeted $100, told the wife what I needed and bought a nice Skil 7 amp 1/2 inch power hammer drill.
She wouldn't have said no, and I didn't have to ask, but we still talked about it.

Darko, that sounds like a lot of work and cover-up in order to just say "I do whatever she tells me to do" just like the rest of us married guys do.

Just give your future wife a fair allowance, such as $5 a week, and let her borrow against future allowance with interest. Then you don't have to ask her about any purchase because you'll be entitled to the rest of the weekly income.

Perception is reality. Darkside thoroughly discusses it with DW and they come to an agreed upon conclusion to all issues, and both parties are always extremely satisfied with the results.

So far... so good. It worked. We don't spend money we don't have and there's never one of those "oopsie I dropped $400 at (Home Depot or Some Girl Type Shit) and we can't make the mortgage".
If only I could get her to switch to Scotts instead of Cottenelle.

Married 6 years, together for 10, not a single argument... (literally). I'd say that's satisfaction, Spaulding...

I'm with spaulding though - we talk about a lot more things other than money. Not sure we've ever had a money-related argument. But like Darko and his (way, way, way, way) better half, neither one of us really are spend-crazy on stuff for ourselves. Except beer. And that's usually just me. God bless beer and god bless us everyone. Especially beer makers.

There's good money to be had when you have a freakishly large head.

Maybe I'm setting myself up for a lot of sleeping on the couch in the coming years, but I don't think $100 is a lavish purchase by any means, and I don't think I would ask/talk about it before hand if something like this came up. Now obviously if times were tough or we had to figure out who would watch the kid(s) or something like that, different story. I could easily see myself being asked about something (this, or a ballgame, for example), and just doing it without asking or talking about it first. I don't feel an $80 or 100 purchase should rock the boat at all, and I doubt I would get upset if she did something like that either. Unless it was for a new purse. :P

....But, maybe this means I'm already on the path for divorce though
