Has she recently lost a bunch of weight?

No

Actually, I saw a picture from when she got remarried recently...she's bigger than she was before

It may not be the amount but the frequency.
$80-$100 may not seem like much one time - but how about once a week? Twice? Whenever?

There are many comfy couches out there Frank.

My wife handles all the money. I just work and put receipts for what I spend on the computer table so she can deduct them. Occasionally I will get harassed about a large receipt and that's when I switch to Charlie Brown mode and just hear the muffled trombone noise.

I have a fairly comfortable couch.

Would a 100 calorie purchase rock the boat?

I really dont mind sleeping on the couch, I just pretend like it is annoying so my wife will continue to think it bothers me. I usually sleep like a rock on it.

what i don't understand is the uproar over the $25 increase from last year. everything costs more than it did the year before. what's another $25? i can understand some of the newbies who didn't go to the roast before, but the "I'm not paying $100!" thing seems a bit ridiculous.

good dolphin doesn't like to pay $100 to chum it with internet geeks. i get it. he'd rather see "paranormal activity 2" 5 times, fine.

I discuss almost every purchase with my wife. We have a spreadsheet with the ledgers on them and she has the password to it. At any given time, she can simply look up the current balances on any of our accounts. We have a system that is followed pretty closely, and it requires both of us to keep up to date on our ledger.
A few weeks ago, I was doing a job that would require a hammer drill, which sadly, I needed to replace. I budgeted $100, told the wife what I needed and bought a nice Skil 7 amp 1/2 inch power hammer drill.
She wouldn't have said no, and I didn't have to ask, but we still talked about it.

You have a spreadsheet with ledgers for each of you? Seriously? And you have to log every expenditure on your spreadsheet? Wow. I guess its better than dopes who just spend spend spend with no clue.

No. I have one spreadsheet. All our accounts are on it. We both update it with every transaction. Is that bizarre? You just guess what your balances are?

You do realize that you can log into your bank accounts & see your transactions & balances, right? What your doing sounds like a TLC "Extreme Budgeting" reality show. But again, if it helps you manage your finances & prevents you from over extending yourselves, then good for you.
Mrs. Scorehead & I both like to buy things for ourselves or for each other occasionally without ever talking about it, so this would never fly in my home.

First of all, the 3 digit thing makes a difference to people. Thats why everything is __.99

But you know that

The other thing: 75$ for the roast was stretching the limits already IMO

I have no problem paying the $100 to hang out. I've always had a lot of fun with you guys in the past and the tab has run high as I try to buy friendships. The mechanics of saying "I'm hanging out with intenet creeps and satin jacket wearing radio people for $100" is an awkward conversation.
