Matt Flynn is the next Matt Cassell. Good luck Seattle.

26 with 10 mill guaranteed. I think this is reasonable, given that you have basically no past history to draw off of. Probably their QB for the next two years, and possibly more depending on production. I don't see a lot out of SEA in that division anyhow, so this probably won't matter too much, other than it makes things a little more interesting for a Miami or Washington that really needs a decent QB.

Oh yes. That seems to be true. Well, uhh... :drunken:... maybe RG3 won't be a "decent QB."

Another great move for Ted Thompson. Nobody would've touched Flynn had the Pack franchised him for 15 million per.

Pack will end up getting a 3rd rd pick out of this.

They should get one for Wells too. Do you think Ted might go and trade next years 3rd, knowing he will pick up an additional 2 3rd round compensatory picks, for a certain short yardage backup qb/rb that will get replaced by Peyton in a few days?

He also played pretty damn good on the road against New England the previous year.

Take away that absurd kickoff return by an offensive lineman and he would probably have won both games. Seattle knows exactly what they are getting as they have former packer front office personnel running their front office now. I don't think he is an MVP but he should make a few pro bowls and a few playoff appearances as a starter.

Packers all-time record holder for most passing yards in one game and touchdowns in one game. I don't see stupid Brett Favre, Aaron Rodgers, or Bart Starr with those records.

I doubt he'll make many pro bowls. Considering the conference has Rodgers, Brees, Eli, Stafford, Romo, Ryan, Cutler, etc he would have to be really damn good to make multiple pro bowls. It was a great signing for the money though.

i don't see smith going back to frisco...he feels he was lowballed at 3 years 24 million ..and now this one hit wonder flynn just got 3/26 after one game...so i see manning going to the niners or maybe if manning goes to tennesee then hasselbeck to the niners.

There's no reason to think Alex Smith is better than Flynn. He wasnt lowballed.

i don't think either are really good...both maybe serviceable at best...but at least smith has some games under his belt and has won a playoff game..flynn does not even have enough of a track record to justify naming him a starter...i could see bringing him in to compete for a job ..but one game means nothing...jim miller sucked and threw for 400 plus yards too.

Like others have said, its not just one game. Hes gotten better and stronger every year he's been in the league. He has potential to be great. We know Alex Smith won't be great. Alex Smith has a long track record of mediocrity. Flynn doesn't. Plus Green Bay has probably been the best in the league at developing quarterbacks the past two decades.

I don't think Flynn will be great, but he can play quarterback in the league. There are a lot of bad quarterbacks out there. I don't blame anybody for looking to sign him, he has earned the right. I would rather give him the money than most quarterbacks they could have drafted.

Kevin Kolb looked to be good at one point, too.

No one knows. Obviously. Which is the risk. It's a completely different world when the opposing defense has a week to watch tape and learn your tendencies. At least Seattle kept it somewhat reasonable with his contract all things considered.
