Reed Johnson and Fukudome are both above average outfielders. Bradley is below average and Soriano is 20,000 leagues below average

its probably not gonna even be the worst in baseball

Bradley had a good press conference today. He had good answers. He didn't make any bullpoop excuses or anything.
I liked what I heard.
I've also been thinking about this powderkeg reputation he has coming into the Cubs, I remember people thinking Lou was going to be a raving madman too. that didn't happen. Must be the lukewarm water in the dugout tunnel.

Yeah, I heard it on WGN today as well and he sounded very enthusiastic about being a Cub and very sincere about it. I still think he's going to have a couple episodes, but I'm hoping he works out. If he helps the Cubs win a World Series, he can flip out all he wants afterwards. Can't wait to see what Hendry does next. I'm sure this is not the end.

Hendry signs Bradley to a 3yr/$30 mil deal and has to trade away Mark DeRosa to make room while Bobby Abreu (arguably a better player) signs at 1yr/$5 mil. Matching up salaries the cubs could have Abreu/DeRosa for $1.5 million than what they are paying Bradley. I'm not sure I'd want to risk my job on Milton Bradley.

I have to agree here it seems like Hendry rushed to sign Bradley and ended up overpaying when there is a glut of semi markatble lefty outfielders out there still on the market. Id rather have DeRosa/Abreu just for the fact they are more likely to play a whole season healthy than Bradley.

Im pumped about getting Bradley. This guy is a switch hitting, fast running , run scoring, hitting machine

I wanted Abreau as a free agent and for them to trade Fontenot, Derek Lee and if need be a few minor league pitchers, for Roberts. They would be so much better off. Never would have traded DeRosa either, as I mentioned when that happened, he provided valuable protection at so many positions. Gotta say, this off-season was not an especially good one for Hendry. Thats without even mentioning the bullpen too. lots of mistakes.

It was reported at that time that the Orioles were looking for a SS, 2B and 1B as well as pitching. They wound up taking Cedeno in a trade, so perhaps a Cedeno, Fontenot, Lee combo would have done it. Throw in Wells if needed too.

The leadoff hitter is so important and the Cubs have needed a good one for a long time. Roberts is one of the best.

Thats right. But perhaps he would have worked in a deal with the Orioles too. With the Rich Hill and Felix Pie deals with Baltimore, I guess I forgot they dealt Cedeno to Seattle. But that was a deal that Hendry should have made. Hell, if he was going to trade DeRosa- including him, rather than Fontenot in such a deal, would have been more acceptable. But the Roberts deal should have been the biggest priority.
