I don't think the tradition argument works...its only been up for 15 years or so.

What constitutes a tradition? For me it is anything over 10 yrs.

Yes, bad singing and losing is a tradition at Wrigley. If you don't like it stay the
fuck out of there! Were you even born before lights went up at Wrigley? That
shouldn't be an argument for you at all.

For a stadium that has been around for almost 100 years now, 12 years should not really be tradition. Tradition is ivy, the manual scoreboard, day baseball, and even the fucking pillars holding up the top deck.

What does the stadium have to do with anything? The team has been around much longer.

Just because its been bad since 2001 doesn't mean its not tradition.

"Throw it back" is bad too. But its also tradition.

I think it's an interesting point that has come to define the franchise...probably why Ricketts is trying to get rid of it. The Cubs are identified as hapless losers, and it seems the only thing fans (myself included) can brag about is the magnitude of futility. The Eamus Catuli sign was a monument to that ineptitude and frustration. Ironically, by trying to eliminate all reminders of failure, Ricketts may end up alienating that type of fan--the one who cherishes the historic losing streak.

It's fine if the building decides to take it down, but if the Cubs are strong-arming the owner of the building in anyway, then that's petty and douche-worthy.

I would have to agree with Frank here ..... The signs have nothing to do with the stadium, scoreboard,
ivy or anything else. As I mentioned before, I think anything after 10 yrs indicates a tradition, specifically
with a sports franchise. Did the rally monkeys from the Angels big year stick around? As far as I know
they didn't so I think that would not constitute a tradition.

edit -- if the Cubs have anything to do with this my argument is null, if they are that soft shelled then
they are the weakest organization in the city ( you could make this argument already )
