If you're a regular "Boers & Bernstein" listener the next 3 days, you won't hear a certain Dan Bernstein imitating the late Joe Paterno or now Jets' QB Tim Tebow. That's because Bernsy is away the next 3 days, and Jason Goff comes from behind the glass to sit in alongside Terry Boers. Needless to say, Boers & Goff have a lot to talk about.

Given the fact Goff follows the Bulls, you can bet they'll preview tonight's ONLY visit from the Denver Nuggets this eve at United Center, likely without Derrick Rose for a 7th straight game due to a sore groin. The guys might also try to figure out why Joakim Noah avoided a suspension for throwing a basketball towards NBA official Scott Foster ang getting ejected Saturday night vs. the Toronto Raptors. The guys will also discuss whether Butler's Brad Stevens was REALLY a candidate for the Illinois basketball vacancy and where things REALLY stand there. Also, the Final Four is set for next weekend in New Orleans and the guys should also bring up who they think will cut down the nets next Monday night.

There's also a clunker Blackhawks' loss vs. the Nashville Predators, complete with Ray Emery replacing Corey "Bad at Hockey Again?" Crawford in the 3rd period last night. Despite sitting out practice today due to stomach flu, Emery may get the call tomorrow night in Newark vs. the New Jersey Devils.

If that's not enough, is Tiger Woods the man to beat at the Masters in about a week after winning his first PGA event in a long time yesterday at the Arnold Palmer Invitational? Also, Tim Tebow was officially introduced at a Noon (ET) presser in New York. Couldn't the Jets' newest headache, I mean QB, have waited for this afternoon for Boers & Goff to REALLY give him the biz? Last but not least, boxing historian Bert Randolph Sugar passed away yesterday, and the guys had a chance to talk to him after a White Sox game last summer. I'll be interested if these 2 mention Bert's passing and their memories of the "Man in the Fedora". All of that coming up...

That's the way to do the opening. Just play the Bernstein tape.

Here's what Terry & Jason have planned:

*3:30p: "The Second Half"
*4p: Sports Illustrated & SI.com NBA/Boxing Writer Chris Mannix

Didn't get who's producing the first of 3 straight Boers & Goff shows, but Matt Rodewald is doing "Scoreboard Updates" this afternoon just hours after doing traffic on NBC5 with Stefan Holt & Daniella Guzman at Studio 5, plus Alicia Roman (!) doing the weather this morning.

Why has Jason Goff been infected with the NBA inferiority complex? It's cool if you like the NBA better. I like a lot of things better than college basketball. I just don't feel the need to constantly bring it up. I don't watch or talk about college basketball during the NBA playoffs and use it to put down the NBA.

Cut it out.

Goff learned to set up the straw man from the master himself.

I'm very confused on how I should feel about the NBA. Is it a great sport or should I ignore the regualr season? Or maybe I'm supposed to enjoy the regular season but not care about the results. I know coaches running a ton of stuff is important, but college coaches generally run way more stuff.

Let me see if I can clear it up...

-You can't root for the Bulls when they win...if you do you don't know basketball and you're an MJ fan.
-You need to hate college basketball and not watch it, they don't run enough stuff and there are too many white people.
-The regular season only means anything if it confirms your narrative. If it doesn't then it still doesn't matter.

Where does someone like George Karl rank among the great minds of Western civilization as someone one would love to have the hypothetical Drink With? I had him slotted below Thomas Edison but ahead of Enrico Fermi; is this accurate?

I think in a handful of NBA cities right now, the regular season does matter. Ask the Bulls' opponent tonight, the Denver Nuggets. If they were in the Eastern Conference, the Nuggets would be a playoff team, and not the New York Knicks for the #8 seed. As it stands now, the Nuggets are tied with the Houston Rockets for the final playoff spot out West, but the Rockets have the #8 seed there. This despite the fact the Nuggets & Rockets have the same 26-23 record, as also the #7 seed Utah Jazz.

Quite frankly, despite all the injuries and all the manned-games lost for these Bulls, I'm enjoying what they've done to this point. I think head coach Tom Thibodeau has done even better this year than when he won NBA Coach of the Year honors coaching these Bulls to the NBA's best regular season record last year. As it stands now for the Bulls, they have a 3 1/2 game edge on the Heat and have played 3 more games than Miami. I think it's only a matter of time before the Bulls clinch the Central Division title and clinch home-court advantage for as long as they last in the postseason. If there are 2 things I'd like to see from the Bulls, it's not just Derrick Rose & Richard Hamilton getting back to full strength, but I'd like to see them as a unit get more than just 10 games under their collective belts as a starting 5. In plain English, I'm looking for good health & momentum from these guys.

2 more days of it. "White Sox Baseball Live" follows these 2 with Ranger live from Glendale, AZ at 6p and I think the "JoeO & Connor Show" follows at 8p. It can't get much worse, can it?

Joe Ostrowski halfheartedly complaining about things is about as bad as the Score gets unless you start getting into, like, the Ed Sherman golf show.

CH, just so you know, the schedule hasn't been updated on 670 The SCORE's page at CBSchicago.com. Also, Drinky's on vacation the next week to 10 days. If it's not "JoeO & Cons" come 8p tonight, or even solo Ostrowski, then who?

I've never heard anyone call him "Cons" except you. I really don't like the idea of any of us having personal pet names for marginal Score talent. It would be like if I and only I started calling Mike Esposito "Muffy."

Anyway, I don't know who will host. They've really emptied out the bench this week, I guess. Maybe Hub.

Actually, CH, "Cons" is a reference to Converse sneakers from the '80s and what I refer to Connor McKnight. As for Mike Esposito, he's known around The SCORE as "Espo".

That's my point. No one else says it

The only other possibility I can suggest is Wayne Randazzo doing double duty as host and "Scoreboard Update" anchor come 8p.

I like this show, and I like Bernstein, but Boers sounds so much more active when Bernstein isn't around.

The Goff factor.

Same thing happens when he sits in with Dan McNeil. Not sure what it is, but both Terry and Dan seem to wake up when Jason is there...

As Keith Olbermann would say, "This blatant promotional announcement..."

The team of Joe Ostrowski & Connor McKnight follow "White Sox Baseball Live: Presented by Miller Lite" at 8p this eve on 670 The SCORE & 670thescore.com. You're welcome.

The funny thing is that with a shortened and condensed schedule, this regular season really does matter in terms of strategically resting your stars and jockeying for playoff positions. Like SHARK said, ask the Jazz/Rockets/Nuggets blob if this is a great big dance of meaninglessness. they have to figure out how to get there and still have enough gas to keep going.

Alright...

Nobody ever said the regular season doesn't matter. I don't know where the hell that came from (Imaginary Radio perhaps), but some of you have certainly taken it and run with it. I believe Dan Bernstein's point was that it is silly to draw any major conclusions from the outcome of a single game.

Example:

Last night the Bulls lost by 17 at home to the Nuggets. Does that now mean that the Nuggets are a better team and that the Bulls are somehow not good anymore because they got blown out on their home floor? No. And it would be silly to think so.

The same goes for a win by a large margin. These games all exist in a vacuum anyway. One night's outcome doesn't affect the next. That's really all Bernstein is saying. It shouldn't be that difficult to process.

I think you're giving him to much credit. I, personally, have never heard him explain it that way.

Every time he goes into his little NBA tantrum it's always "The regular season is meaningless!" unless he's talking about the Heat "The Bulls can beat the Heat?! Are you an idiot?!!? Do you watch the games?!!?!?".

So yeah, I get what you're saying, but Bernsie/Boers don't really phrase it the way you just did.
