I might be asking the wrong group since there isn't a thread already, but for anyone that has seen it, how young is too young to watch it?

My ten year old wants to see it. He has been reading the book, and although its probably much more descriptive than the movie, i feel like it's still his mind translating the words. On the screen, he "sees" it.

My wife went to see this shitty shit yesterday.

One of the few times where I gladly chose work over a movie...

Try this as a reference: If he is old enough to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, he's old enough to see Hunger Games.
Plus, he's reading the book. So, I don't think he'll be surprised by anything he sees.

There were kids killing other kids. (In the movie)

Went and saw it Saturday after bowling and Two Bros. Brewery. Get to Joliet Cinemark at the mall at 600 for 620 show. It was sold out, and got tickets for 710 show and was at the front line to see the next show. Yes, I hung out (and sobered up) for an hour to see this movie. There was a Will County Sheriff(not the former board member one) , posted where the ticket taker station was to keep law and order.

710 show sells out by 630 and the line for the show fills up half the lobby. I enjoy pretty much any dystopian future kind of movie. This was not a kiddie movie. The childrens in attendance weren't being idiots and there was applause when the credits rolled. Watching 20 kids try and kill each other for two hours and it was very light on sappy teenage love story.

Cool supporting cast of Woody Harrelson, Stanley Tucci, and Elizabeth Banks. And Lenny Kravitz was there too.

I don't know. I saw it when I was like 20 and it still freaked me out a little.

EDIT: As it turns out, that was The Crying Game.

He said Hunger Games, not Twilight.

I saw it over the weekend. If he read the book he can see the movie. Barely any blood and some very fake looking neck snapping.

i just saw it this afternoon.

it's a good little lark and the acting is strong. jennifer lawrence is very good and i was really impressed with josh hutcherson who played peeta. oh but what's with all the blacks in it?!? lololol

one problem i had throughout was that this really missed an opportunity to make a statement about exploiting violence. it seemed to want to take a few jabs with the talk shows and everything but it didn't go for it in the way that something like "the truman show" satirized the overindulgence of the media. there were a lot of missed chances to have some good humor about how dark the plot was.

the film's 142 minute length didn't bother me but I would've liked to see more Haymitch.

overall it's a fun movie. but it could've been something a lot better i think.

:D :D :D out of :D :D :D :D

We took our son last night. He liked it and seemed less scarred by the kids dying than my wife was....

I thought it was pretty well done. A little too much shaky handheld camera for my taste, but I enjoyed the movie. The story is interesting enough that if I get a couple slow nights this summer I might read the books. What else am I going to do, read this site more.

Saw this on demand about a month ago and it was pretty good overall. Good cast. The movie is a bit
different than the books which I read this summer.

Save your money...not even worth a rental unless you just need to see how it all ends.

Yeah, it wasn't funny for a 16yr old T-Bone at the time but it turned out to be a humorous story to tell. I wonder if my mom even remembers
going to that, I should ask her. We had no idea about the plot twist before we went in.

We watched the finale one.

The three words I would describe it is: Average, uninspired, okay.

If you liked the other movies this at least ties it up but that is about it.

I give it 2 W_Z's out of 4 W_Z's.

I saw the first two but haven't bothered to see the last two. I read the books and enjoyed those quite a bit. Kind of indifferent
whether I see the last installment or not.

The Japanese movie they ripped off to make TheHunger Games, Battle Royale, was much better than any of the HG movies.
