They cut DeLaCruz. Hopefully Dolis is a keeper. Relying on Kerry Wood staying healthy is scary. Clearly the bullpen is lacking so maybe someone will step up. Corpas? Bellevieu by June if not May? Someone else or maybe they will just flat out suck in the pen this year?? Looks like a trade is forthcoming although frankly I'd rather get quality prospects for Byrd or Wells than some 30 something relief pitcher who may help them get to 75 victories...

Coleman would be in as a long man, or possibly even Corpas... I guess the "conventional" thing now is a 12 man staff... but this would preclude either Willie Mayes Campana or Joe Mather being sent down. No idea on whether more comfortable Sveum would be juggling an 11-man staff, or a short bench...

He would probably go with the 11 man staff right now because of all the days off.

Is Lendy a rule 5 guy?

Yes, Lendy is Rule 5. I guess he has to stay on active roster for at least 60 days before they can hide him on DL.

Dempster was horrible last year relative to his salary, etc. so if he happens to do decent this year, they should trade him at the deadline as you know he will want at least 6-8M per annum to resign for at least 3 years.

I would have figured that Byrd would bat higher to get more ab's, been seen and thus be more tradeable. I am also not understanding batting Soto and his giant vajay 8th. I would put Byrd 2nd, Soto 7th and Barney 8th until Soto and Byrd are exiled to another team.

Can't help but wonder if a guy like Livan Hernandez couldn't have helped this team for a 1-year contract.

I know a lot of things have to fall their way, but this division is not gonna be the strongest in MLB, and the starters don't exactly look like the pillar of the team.

Let's just guess the bench and the staff then.
[in SHARK voice]

Util: The Blake DeWitt
OF: Reed "Mantle" Johnson
OF: Willie Mays Campana
SuperUtil: Joe Mather

SP: Matt Garza
SP: Jeff "Gonna Need a Bigger Boat" Samardzija
SP: Paul Maholm
SP: Chris Volstad

we are guessing the bullpen is..
Quote:
RP: Carlos Marmol
RP: Kerry Wood
RP: James Russell
RP: Rafael Dolis
RP: Lendy Castillo
RP: Rodrigo Lopez

Utility means a guy is terrible in the field at a couple positions.
Super-Utility is more mediocrity at any position on the field! ..

Russell is a southpaw.
