Popped collar? Now that's something that warrants getting shot.

I would never do that, unless I was standing next to a douche I was making fun of at the time. I was kidding.

I have quite a few run ins with the people at Best Buy. I stopped shopping there for about 4-5 years until Circuit City closed down and I needed to buy Xmas presents and I hate shopping online. I'm very happy to see them and their shit ass customer service close down.

I feel bad for going in one last week just to play MLB the show for an hour while I waited for our table to be ready at a restaurant.

I worked for a company that watched their core product sales slowly, then rapidly, disappear. Even with a strong leadership group leading the way, which we didn't have, it's difficult to completely change your company. Blockbuster going away would sound laughable ten years ago.

CNBC did a special on Best Buy. It sounds like many people are using Best Buy for advice and a chance to view things, but proceed to buy the items from the cheapest online provider. You can use your smartphone now to scan a bar code and immediately find the cheapest offer. I don't know how they can keep he current model profitable.

That CNBC special was just on, caught the last half hour, the sad thing is they made it sound to make a profit, get rid of employees.

They also said that this could just be the first cut, and Best Buy maybe gone totally in about 20 years.

I would say not a bad store to go, they do a trade in program, so that's nice and I was able to buy an 320 GB from there this week for about 30 dollars off most stores prices.

As one of the five people on the face of the earth who seem to enjoy Best Buy stores, this news gives me a sad face.

I still think the fall of Best Buy coinsides with the waning popularity of DVD's. I wonder how much money was made on DVD sales about 10 years ago compared to today. I'm guessing when Best Buy decided a new release DVD is at a 16.99 price point instead of 12.99,they took a hit .

The door checkers at Best Buy even search the employees leaving the store. The reason why the stores are closing is because their prices are unnecessarily high. Why spend the big bucks at Best Buy when you can get the stuff for cheaper shipped to your house from Amazon? With people having less spending money because of the economy and such it's no wonder they're closing stores. Every now and then I look at the Best Buy ad and I don't think anything is really on sale. The decline of CDs and DVDs could also be an issue. Who would have thought 10 years ago a DVD machine like Red Box would replace Blockbuster? Blockbuster deserves it though for sticking it to people over late fees.

This is full of thoughts that are either unrelated, or were already mentioned in this thread.

The security guard at the one I was at was feeling the pockets of the employees coat. Of course the employee wasn't wearing said coat, but you get the idea.

These places are always going out of business. There were some big box electronics stores that went out of business in the 80s. Damn if I can remember the name of them. The whole concept sucks.

After those car dealerships closed in the 80's, why would someone try to open another. The whole concept sucks.

Huh.

Never experienced or saw that in the short time I worked there, and I've never seen it shopping there.

Haha, we had a Highland and a Silo mere blocks from each other on Rand Road (corners of Arl.Hts. Rd and Palatine Rd, respectively). I think Best Buy set up shop, also at Rand and Palatine, and dispatched both.

Circuit City was at Randhurst, in the old Spiess location, IIRC.

They had one right off the corner of Rand & Arlington Hts. Road a few years ago right before it went under.
