Well, CBS and any sponsor is free to walk away from it

I wish they would

Stop being such a Boilermaker Rick. The CEO is just the lastest example. Nobody cares about her specifically and you know that.

Im sorry I dont consider an event that's covered for days by a huge network and pimped for like a month ahead of time to be private.

Why though? Are you saying that it's wrong for a private group of people to hang out just with men or just women?

Also, let me point out that they allow women, they just have never had a female member. They can still play the course, and have all that sweet millionaire business bonding experience.

No. That's exactly what it's about. She's one of the few people in the whole world that has a chance at membership there.

So because they are more successful than you and me they should operate under a different set of rules?

How would the world be better if 50% of the membership at Augusta was female?

I never legitmately meant they were equal to the KKK.

Then why did you say they were equal?

Because a female could be named GM of the Yankees today. Not so at Augusta.

I just dont consider it private because of The Masters.

If privacy is what they seek, they should refuse the Masters. They're letting all the privacy out!!!

So without using Google, can you tell us what other country clubs do you hate because they have these same membership rules?

First of all, I never used the word Hate

Secondly, that proves my point. I know who Augusta is because they really arent all that "private", are they?

What is your point anyway?

So if a black kid trying to go to school in Mississippi in the 50's couldnt name every segregated school, he really shouldnt bitch about the one he's trying to go to?

By this logic, every company is public? If so, there are much larger battles to fight than getting a woman the ability to make her own tee time at Augusta instead of a friend having to call it in.

The problem is we are using private to mean different things. My bad.

RPB is right...Augusta gets a lot of attention that it wouldn't otherwise from the public because of The Masters.

However, in terms of membership and ability for the public to play, Augusta is private. Period.

There you go again insinuating that two totally different things as equals. Schools are not invite only. That same kid could not go to an all girls school. He would just look just as foolish as you if he bitched about not being able to go to a girls school.

You only answered after an edit. You did not answer that originally so I rephrased with the word hate removed.

Why does it matter in the slightest bit if I know of any other country clubs that have bullshit rules?

My knowing other clubs has ZERO to do with this and doesnt affect it at all.

No, they are exclusionary, like Augusta is.

Augusta and the KKK has a few things in common. Derive from that what you will.

I don't disagree with BRick regarding the guys hanging out with the guys. I pointed out as much in my post regarding how the bonding experience isn't the same once a woman is present. But many guys might feel the same way about a man of a different race or ethnicity too. I'm trying to stand outside it and just discuss facts without judging.

The truth is Augusta has the problem and they will eventually bend to the will of advertisers. They're fighting a losing battle. Just like the battle to keep schools segregated. There will eventually be a female member. So why keep fighting it?

Frank, do you think there is any overlap on the Venn diagram of Augusta members and KKK members?

Well rpb, you're clearly upset by Augusta because they have certain membership rules. Then you say that 100% of men are eligible to help prove your own misguided point. 100% of men are not eligible, which got you upset in the first place.

You still look silly with all this. I understand what you are saying and why you dislike Augusta, but you presenting your case in a pretty silly way.

I would think there might be some overlap. Obviously I don't know for sure but it certainly wouldn't surprise me. Country club members don't go around committing rape, murder, and arson though as part of their country club. That is why comparing the two is downright stupid.

Quick movie reference.

The movie "The Toy" was hilarious. People loved it.

In the movie Jackie Gleason is hoping to get invited into the KKK and by the end of the movie he's a sympathetic figure.

Weird.

I'm sure those acts aren't part of the KKK charter. They're just things some members happen to enjoy.

And you know what Bryan meant when he said 100% of men are eligible. No man is excluded simply by virtue of being a man.

 You are completely lost in this discussion.

100% of men are eligible for Augusta, meaning there is no rule specifically saying they cant be a member.

And yes, there is spillover from Augusta Membership to the KKK or at the very least there has been.

Its a bullshit dumb assed rule, regardless of the legality.

Thats just my opinion.

He was lovable when he was a bus driver threatening to beat the fuck out of his wife too. It's Jackie Gleason, man.

Keep calling people stupid. You come off really intelligent here.

You came in with ridiculous comment "Its a private club" like that somehow justifies their bullshit.

No one was saying it wasnt a private club.

Thats why IMU and I both pointed out that "being a private club" doesnt really mean anything in this discussion with the KKK thing.

You hung on to that and keep aruging it for some reason

No, it's not about women in general. It's about a few women and a specific club they can't get into. Things are pretty good in this country if the way to further gender equality in America is by letting a millionaire woman be a member of a club so she can make her own tee times instead of needing her millionaire friends to do it.

Wow. Someone who said earlier in the thread "Cmon man, thats ridiculous. Not what I said or meant." shouldn't do the same to me.
