He really didn't get to be an ass until he got home. Then his dad was mocking him for wearing jewelry and Asha "seduces" him.

I haven't read the books, so this is strictly from a fan of the TV show, but he's been king for 2? episodes now and I can't stand the little fucker. I really hope a brutal death awaits him, and the sooner the better. DON'T SPOIL IT YOU BOOK LEARNERS!!

I didn't have an issue with really anything tonight? What was the biggest issue for you?

Its always that way when adapting books to movies/tv.

I need to rewatch it as I was pretty tired and a little tipsy when watching late last night, but I don't like the way Davos is being portrayed. He isn't confident and is almost ashamed of his upjumped status. They didn't get into that but he seemed very at ease at the Painted Table and that is not how he is. The Cressen bit was slightly confusing as well and felt very rushed, I think the ruby on Melisandre's neck should have been more prominent and glowing at that point to emphasize the power of her magic.

I think the quality visually is alot better than last year although some scenes appear poorly lit for some reason.

Best part of the episode - DIREWOLVES!!! Finally we get to see those badasses.

yes, the direwolves looked fantastic.

i also didn't picture craster the way that they have him cast but i liked that scene a lot; then again, i never pictured stannis the way they cast him either, same with brienne.

i thought overall it was a good episode. loved the casting of melisandre. jesus christ.

This episode sort of confirmed some of my fears going forward with this tv series...

There is simply too much jumping around, and it will only get worse. This was no issue in the books...they are not constrained by x amount of time in y amount of episodes. TV simply tries to condense too much, and it doesn't work.

It was the first episode of the season. They needed to introduce all the new characters and set up the story for this season. I don't think it will be as jumpy going forward. This maybe could have been better as a 90 minute or 2-hour premeire though.

kinda disappointed in the first episode...agreed it should have been longer and things happened too fast for being off 10 months and return and sandwich everything in 53 minutes is bad...never showed the red head woman(witch) or baratheons other brother listening to her until last night as far i know...should have slowed it down some....next week will should be much better.

So are they leaving Riverrun/The Blackfish/Edmure out of the show completely? I know that jackref was pretty upset he was left out of the 1st season but I brushed it off assuming that they woudl have to be there in the second season. Not to spoil anything but there are a hell of a lot of storylines that revolve around Riverrun and the Tullys. It is pretty damn critical in Book 3 and 5 as well.

The producer has said that they'll remain faithful to the book, but not necessarily in the same order it happens in the books.

I imagine it'll be shown.

I never quite finished the first book before Season 2 started. 71% according to my Kindle. Worth finishing or can I just skip to book 2 and read along w/ the show?

Finish the books, they are better than shows by far.

I really liked the Craster scene even though the guy looked like a proper English gentleman.

I agree Hank.

I always pictured Craster as more lecherous.

Not mention he is a 'wilding' perhaps they should have made him look a little more wild.

Here is the casting for Tormund Giantsbane:

This is the Jurassic Park argument for me. Read the book and the movie sucks...

As stated before, I'm probably not going to read the Thrones books at this point. I suppose I could, but I'm o.k. with it if I don't.

I read the Hunger Games yesterday during the NASCAR race. The GF really wanted to see the movie after she read the book so I spent the 4 hours and read it yesterday. It's a pretty good story, and written in that simple verse...not unlike the first couple/few Harry Potter books. Anyway, I finished the book and we saw the movie less than 2 hours later. While there were some subtle differences to the movie to move the screenplay along, there was also some information that explained some things in the book that were left unanswered. There are also the quik "flashback" type scenes that only make sense if you read the book. So, while I was entertained and didn't feel cheated, the movie was made for people who read the book...

I suspect GOT is not entirely off in the same regard based on the previous discussions.

A decent first episode. My only complaint is the scene with Littlefinger and Cersei, which did not happen in the novel. I know NERDRAGEMOAR. But it's not a Littlefinger move to let Cersei know that he knows about the real parentage of her children. And it was in front of guards. He'd keep that shit to himself and stroke his goatee while rubbing one out to Sansa Stark.

It was a good starter but I do agree that it would have been better to make it 90 min to really flesh out the beginning of an awesome Season 2. It looks as if it will be fucking awesome and great and cool!

I liked:

-DragonStone
-Nights Watch/Craster
-The "Name Day" celebration and Sir Dontas and everything else. I actually like the way the hound is played in the show....it jives with the way I see him in the books.....a real menace and destroyer but there is something lurking beneath the surface.
-Dire Wolves
-Scene with Rob and Jaimie
-Tyrion!
-Most of everything else
-The brutality of the City Watch when tracking down the bastards, it is a good way to show what the book told of civil unrest...and the beginning when talking about "there will be a lot less peasants" when speaking of the lack of grain stores.
-I love to hate Jeoffre, what an insolent piece of shit. I love it. Speaking about his grand-father fucking up the war, how the Starks place to much value on women while speaking with Cearsie and him talking shit about Roberts bastards...
-Among other things.

Didn't Like:
-Little Finger and his talk with Ceirsi....it was pointed out before that LF wouldn't ever reveal what he knew. It's just dumb.
-The glossing over Araya Stark and her travels towards the wall.
-The Onion Knight being a little timid.
-It was only 60 min.

Again, it will be awesome, it has to be. But I'm sure that won't stop NERDS and DORKS from doing the "Oh yeah, I mean, the show is Okay if you like that kinda thing, *SIGH*, you gotta read the books....*SIGH* ugh, they are soooo much better...". If I hear that shit on here I will murder you and ship your slaughtered body back to your loved ones in a fucking god-damn shoe box....a FILJA shoe box!

I don't know why I didn't realize it sooner, but Littlefinger is Mayor Carcetti from The Wire.

Yeah, but as long as it works and makes for a pretty faithful book translation + damn good TV I will be ok.

And I am OK.

Are you OK?

Regardless of its inclusion in the books, it was a brilliantly acted scene. I liked it... and I'm a die hard George R.R. Martin fan.

Advice for you: This series is made in such a way where the reader / viewer is expected to "keep up." You won't have your hand held. You will be introduced to so many characters so quickly and there is nothing you can do about it. This isn't the series for you if you feel you won't be able to keep up with 50 different characters participating in 6 or 7 subplots.

I feel Slaver's Bay might make your head explode.

this was the first episode that i felt was rushed and pressed together too much ..i am not alone....should have been a 90 minute show...agree with whoever said carcetti challenging the queen was very out of character and seemed to crafty and smart to make such a dumb move...unless she hit a nerve and he could not help himself with the poor boy/rich girl not interested..they have referenced carcetti a couple times getting shunned by some woman a few times but never mention any names..is it ned starks wife?

Yeah he wanted ned's wife, they grew up together. He says he banged her back then but she obviously denies such claims.
