Disrespect for the black man. He sees the professional athlete, who he largely believes should be black, as a nothing more than a tool for his entertainment. CTE be damned.

Just seems weird for a guy who pulls the "You're a journalist, act like one" card as often as he does to be talking about "Derrick"

But I don't think he sees himself as a journalist except when it suits him.

Yeah, I get that. But basketball, owing to the intimacy of the playing field and the small rosters, lends itself to a first-name basis. Between Magic, Michael, Shaq, Kobe, basketball is halfway to soccer with its one-word names.

It's different for basketball, but only basketball. While I'll allow that guys named "Paulie" and "A.J." lend themselves to being referred to as Paulie and A.J., it sounds pretty meatbally.

Yeah, actually Mac of all people was the one I used to hear chastise people for always saying Kobe.

It sounded a little strained when he'd refer to "Bryant" but it was journalistically correct, gahdammit!

Back in the day, down the dial, Mac used to ride Harry for referring to Lovie, and not Smith.

Hmm, good catch. That's another one.

Our recent managers have been first-namers, except Mike Quade. Ozzie, Lou, Dusty...Quade. Probably Sveum for the Cubs, but Robin for the Sox.

Maybe by The Crew.

The DrinkyAlliance has had its eye on badrogue and SomeGuy for a while now.
