no, looks like it'll just be a straight up action film that'll have a lot of cgi special effects, a few jabs here and there, probably one in-joke about the original and that's it.

this is my fear with "robocop" too...what made these films legendary was that they weren't afraid of have fun with themselves. these remakes just have no sense of humor or any personality of their own.

Zack, these remakes are out of control.

i'm pretty convinced that any movie made in the late 80's/early 90's that was successful or has become a cult hit will be remade.

including:

"roadhouse"
"gremlins"
"ghost"
"the dark crystal"
"the neverending story" (which already is being re-booted"
"tango & cash"
"the monster squad"
"the princess bride" (that will star elizabeth banks, jason segel, jonah hill, and paul rudd and re-done as a bromance)
and even..."the goonies"...

No way they fuck with the Princess Bride.


If they do, Ill stop them.

Both of these movies still hold up. Maybe the Total Recall remake is good but even if that's the case....what was the point?

And I can appreciate Robocop more now that I'm not 10 years old anymore and I can enjoy the satire and cynicism that movie was bejeweled with.

RPB and everyone in the the "Remakes are Outta' Control" camp is right....you can even look to the Spider Man "reboot" coming out, it isn't a remake but didn't we just have a whole Spider Man trilogy not too long ago?

I'm still stoked for Prometheus.

if it weren't for the (awful) sitcom reincarnation, i'd have the same fears for a "parenthood" remake...starring all the people i just mentioned for TPB, including seth rogen and anyone else from the judd apatow clan.

HA! Id almost like to see them try Parenthood.


Such a good movie, so many awesome performances.
