My only memory of Jay Strongbow was being one of the guys who tried to pull Sgt. Slaughter off Hulk Hogan during the buildup to Wrestlemania 7.

For those of us who grew up watching wrestling out east Chief Jay Strongbow was The Man. My brother and I would stay up til midnight to watch Chief Jay, Sonny King, Bruno, Gorilla Monsoon, Baron Mickel Sicluna, SD Jones, Backlund, Fuji and Saito, Fred Blassie, Captain Lou, The Grand Wizard and Vince's old man.

Yhanks for the memories, RIP.

Scarpa died on April 3, 2012[5] at the age of 83. Professional wrestler Bret Hart tweeted the following:

Chief Jay Strongbow helped me as much, if not more, than anyone else in my career. It truly saddens me 2 see the wrestling world lose 1 of its great contributors. He was the star of most of my locker room drawings... ...but he will always be Chief to all the boys who knew him. A big loss!
