We've had 2 managers (1 a HoF manager) that had recent success and many of you expected them to win immediately. Same with other sports. You never take a long term approach with anything and you tend to look for any comment to mock a guy with. If any recent manager or player said they didn't care what the fans think you all would be running around with pitchforks.

lets be honest.. a majority of fans are dumb...this team was such a mess it needed a complete rebuild from the ground up...epsteins hands were somewhat tied with so many bad contracts...i think in 2 years this team will have the central won pretty much every year..

I'm all for rebuilding but I want this team to at least be good enough to grab that 5th playoff spot. You never know what can happen in the playoffs,especially in baseball.

No one "expected them to win immediately" dude. They both just kinda happened to have won immediately. IIRC in 2003 the Cubs weren't even that good until a late August/September surge... as for 2007, they had what looked like a stacked lineup, a manager that proved he can win... pretty fucking different from this year.

Fact is in 03 no one thought they were worth a shit until August. 04 was the first year of "Expectations". Lou can into a team that had serious potential. Well, a team is a very complex structure. I'm sure detailed analysis shows certain patterns emerging from chaos. Anyway, we've all heard the phrase "built to go deep in the playoffs". If those playoffs are truly a crapshoot/coin toss, that phrase is pretty meaningless. But just because most people aren't sure how to do it, doesn't mean it can't be done. Like I said, my suggestion is to look at starting pitching. Upgrade the fifth guy rather than spending heavily on offensive production. If you start with five or six good, consistent starters, it stands to reason that a few of them will be on top edge going into the postseason.
