That makes no sense either.

Different people have different levels of success you trust them accordingly.

Ill never, ever say any Coach/Gm/player should listen to the fan

If a player said "When I'm batting, I can't hear fans screaming at me" or "When they boo me, it's just noise, I can't let it affect my decision making" then I'm thinking... that makes sense. Didn't Bacon say something about getting fan input (re: SPEEGZ dumbass) on his swing? If he says "I'm not going to let (Speigel's Commentary) affect my decision making" that isn't saying FUCK SPEIGEL to me.

Yeah, I don't get "fuck the fans" out of that at all, and any GM who doesn't agree 100% with this statement won't win shit.

Not caring about what the people who pay your salary thinks is saying "fuck you". Whenever you hear someone say don't take this the wrong way you know they're saying something fucked up.

I don't get you, I thought we were talking about what the fans say. The fans aren't paying his salary. And again, he didn't say he didn't care, he said he wouldn't let it affect his decision making.

I've seen both of you blast players and coaches for saying similar stuff. Only difference is that player or coach didn't say "don't take this the wrong way". The player and coach usually has to apologize after the fans and media pound them for it.

All right, well, which context? Who was the player or coach that I blasted for saying he won't let the fans affect their decision making? If I can see what I said maybe I can explain why it was different or admit my hypocrisy.

Without the fans buying those tickets Theo wouldn't have a job. So we have a new one to add to the list. Theo really knows how to change long held beliefs.

I have no clue what you're talking about. Ya lost me. I mean the sox don't have fans buying tickets and Kenny has a job...
but all jokes aside, I don't know what you're trying to say and it seems like you're on an island so I'll just forget it.

Nas, should Bellicheck pull Tom Brady just because he throws an INT and the fans boo? By leaving Brady in the game, is Bellichek saying "fuck you fans, I don't care what you think"??

I'm not trying anything. Just understanding how some of you transformed so many long held beliefs overnight. Tooth Fairy pays Theo's salary.

Read through this. No idea what's going on at all. Very confused how Theo's comments can be taken anything other than positively.

It happens when you don't have on blinders. BTW I never said it was a bad thing. Just seemed odd that of you all have criticized coaches and players for making similar comments after a game. Theo just took a preemptive strike.

It is interesting that hiring a supposed genius for GM has somehow actually lowered expectations for most people. If they had gone out and just gotten some assistant GM or another guy who hadn't had the success Cub fans would be expecting results fairly quickly but since they got Theo he gets a pass for a long time as he "changes the Cubs culture".

Normally it's the opposite, if you hire a hotshot big name to run your team, you expect results to come quicker and not slower.

I dont want the 2012 versions of those guys. I'm gonna hop in my Delorean and gun it to 88.

Completely disagree.

This thing needed to be blown up regardless of who took the job. Many of us wrote that before Hendry got fired and before Theo was even a possibility.

Prince and Pujols were both available this off-season.

Theo dude gets tired of the midwest before the Cubs make the post-season again.

You are being beyond meatballish.

You are criticizing people in the name of GM's listening to fans.

and those arent opinions. Those are lies. Youve never seen me rip a coach for saying he's not listening to the fans

I await your quote or apology on that.

And you ARE a Sox fan first ,are you not?

You've had many conversations on here about how the bad long term contracts are slowly disappearing and that the Cubs are in much better shape than the White Sox who have a lot of money left. The true "blowing up" started before Theo showed up because they stopped chasing bad money with more bad money.

The point still stands though. If Theo is truly the baseball master that everyone thinks he is then why would he need to follow a similar timeline of a lesser GM? How long will it take for Theo to rebuild the team? If they miss the playoffs the next 3 years is that acceptable?

This isnt Kansas City or St Louis. Chicago has plenty to offer.

This is true. Same thing happened with managers and coaches. Not saying Theo shouldn't have time to turn things around but I'm shocked that so many "now" fans are willing to wait for results that they believe will come "later".
