Game 1:
* Manager pulls Dempster FOR NO REASON WHATSOEVER

* Wood was warming up and Sevum probably didn't want to waste him warming up BUT Wood sucks and after 1 fucking walk should have been pulled.

* Jeff Baker decides he doesn't want to bend over for a grounder at 1st...TERRIBLE!

* DeJesus-Run back to the wall and turnaround instead of twisting like a FUCKING SCARECROW!

0 and 1 and counting every stupid play and move under this thread for 2012.

You first. This is a forum for opinions. The things I mentioned are actually facts. Baker,DeJesus screwed up two plays. Sveum pushed the wrong button on bringing in Wood.Instead of insulting me,why don't you tell me how it was anything else but what I said?

I was really hoping that they'd have stopped the stupid 7th inning stretch crap.

me,too...it gets dumber when someone with no Cub ties (like Ozzie Ozbourne) does it.

I do share your frustration with some of these things jimmy, lots of bad baseball, especially at the end of the game. Dempster pitched a helluva game and should have been given the shot to at least get out of the 8th.

Baker's play was perhaps the biggest dumbass play I have seen in awhile. But I guess he is not normally a 1st baseman.

DeJesus gets a pass from me on that play. He is a pretty good fielder and the wind was playing havoc with the ball today. That was not an easy play at all.

The only things I saw that were unacceptable were Soriano pimping a routine fly to center and Byrd being off target on his cut thus allowing both runners to tag.

Pulling Dempster was correct assuming this was not done to get him an ovation. Wood needs to do his job and not walk 3 straight batters. Walking a guy who had previously struck out 3 times is mind boggling.

As far as Soriano tryin to take third goes.....he probably should have read the ball in the dirt better but at least he gave a shit enough to actually try. I like the aggressive approach.

This season means nothing. When and if this team is good not many from this current roster will be around (including Marmol). This will be the first year that absolutely none of the dumb shit that happens will bother me. Just don't see a reason to bitch. Look toward 2014 and 2015

True....aside from Castro, Garza if they somehow do not trade him and maybe Barney in a utility role no one is going to be on the roster when it actually matters.

Christ on a stick (huzzah!), one goddam game in and the sky is falling in Wrigleyville. Its damn good thing Theo said he wasn't gonna listen to the fans because from what I've read here and the 4 minutes I heard of calls on the Afternoon Saloon, a good chunk of them are morons.

Was it frustrating? Sure. Is it gonna make or break the season? No. /JerryAngelo
Its one game, take a breath.

Relax frank. Everyone except steve knows this is going to be a terrible season. We'll see how the Sawx fans react to their first perplexing loss later today. Perhaps it will be more tempered.

The Sox are going to start of hot out of the gate and be just relevant enough to trade away everything they have remaining in the minors to go all in and then they will finish 3rd in the division well out of the playoffs. I would rather have a bad team be bad instead of posing as good which then results in say...trading your future for fucking ubaldo jimenez.

There is no perhaps about it, if the Sox lose that is.
Look at the posts from yesterday and the threads started about the game. You'd have thought the Bears lost a playoff game judging from the reactions.

Aside from Sherwin Williams I hope most of those posts were done in a somewhat mocking manner.

i expect 74 wins from this team...but they choked one away yesterday...agreed soriano dumb base running.. agreed baker blows...agreed wood blows ..he and baker should not be on this team... but all spring i kept hearing how much bunting this team team was doing..then why not bunt that run in? instead of swinging at the first pitch .

Mine weren't. I think some boobs took my Fire Sveum too seriously as well. Shit I posted that on day 1 of the Sveum Regime.

This team refuses to take a walk or work counts<cough> Barney,Bird <cough>....but will give them out generously.

I wonder what would happen if a wild Kerry Wood faced Barney or Byrd.

I'm hoping Bill Murray's nonsense yesterday was over the top enough for Theo to axe that shit. Get a tape of Harry, play it every day forever. No more guests saying dumb shit and then butchering the broadcast.

Yeah either Harry or Santo or alternate between the two. I would have to think Theo probably would like to axe it but it has to be Ricketts letting go on.

You know Brenly hates this shit with the "celeb" interviews. I don't mind it too much when it's a big name (maybe once a week),but next month when they have the HS volleyball captain or some shit like that,it's very painfull.

Jim Tracy has seen both ends of the spectrum. Managed the Bucs & the Dodgers (when they were good). If you want to give a young guy a chance, why don't they just interview a few managers in their own minor league system (now that creep,Sandberg is gone)?
