Coyotes in 5, it pains me to say.

We need our bottom six to step up big. Looking Bickell, Frolik, and Hayes dead in the eye.

If Toews and Bolland are good to go would it be Morrison and Hayes who are the odd men out? I'd assume so since Q hates Hayes. I would hope he'd sit Frolik instead of Hayes.

I have no idea what Q sees in Frolik. He has no business being on the ice...ever.

Frolik regressed hard this year. His line with Bickell and Bolland was promising against the Canucks last year. I don't know what happened. He just stopped being good at everything, anything. I'll still take him over Bollig, though. His shenanigans have no place in the postseason.

If Toews and Bolland are back, lines should be
Hossa - Toews - Kane
Sharp - Kruger - Stalberg
Bickell - Bolland - Shaw
Brunette - Mayers - Frolik/Hayes

If they're not back, welp, pack it in.

Frolik at least is still a hard worker who will be responsible in the defensive end. He should definitely be dressed

I don't agree with those lines. Hossa isn't a left wing. Kane has been great at center, why remove him from that spot? Also, the two of them have looked amazing playing with a stiff like Brunette so no need to go overkill and add Toews to the mix. It makes more sense to put Toews with Stalberg and Sharp and the force teams to pick their poison when deciding which legit #1 line they want to match up with.

Here is what I would do...

Krueger-Kane-Hossa
Sharp-Toews-Stalberg
Bickell-Bolland-Shaw
-Brunette-Mayers-Hayes

Or you could swap Krueger and Shaw, or even leave Brunette on that line since he's really not hurting them and it makes our bottom six stronger.

19 skating on a line this morning I believe for the first time. Participating in line rushes etc.

Kane-Toews-Hossa

Souls will be taken.

I understand your point shakes, but the 2nd line has just been too good. Kruger is better defensively than Kane so I understand moving Kane back to wing and having your centers be Toews/Krug/Boll/Mayers

Told ya they'd go balls-out on the first line.

So you think its a good idea to put Kane at a position he's never played in in the pros, left wing? He did score the biggest goal in franchise history from that side, but he's on record as not being happy about playing the position. Going from your off wing to the other wing is a huge adjustment. 99% of players prefer to play on their off wing, makes it much easier to cut to the middle as well as hold up on the rush and buy time and space, two huge parts of Kane's game.

No, I think they should sit him, too. A thought that crossed my mind, though, however a longshot it may be, is that Toews has passed all his team-mandated and league-mandated tests and been medically cleared to play, and if they continue to sit him out against his will for "health reasons" after it's all there in writing that his health is okay, perhaps he could file a grievance. I don't know what the rules are for that sort of thing, though.

No. It's not ideal clearly. What I think is the number one idea is having your best 3 centers locked down and not making adjustments there. Have 19/16/36 be your three centers and build around them. That's an incredibly solid defensive top 3 centers at worst case. I think you trust a player like Kane to make some adjustments. With the way they run a lot of their in zone stuff, he'll be rotating to both wings on a pretty consistent basis. You obviously have a good point around fast breaks.

If it looks like it's not working, I'm sure Q will make adjustments by mid 2nd.

I don't understand this post. He has a concuscion, its black and white. Either he's 100% or he's not. There's no grey area with that type of injury. You are either 100% symptom free or you're not. Its not like any other injury where you can still give it a go before you are 100%. With the concuscions, they won't let you play until you are 100% symptom free. So if Toews is still feeling symptoms they have no choice but to sit him. If Toews says he is 100% symptom free and he passes all the objective testing then there is no doubt he will be on the ice.

But, since as of last week Toews has said he's not symptom free my guess is there's a real good chance he won't be ready to go by Wednesday night. The importance of the game has no bearing on when you return from this type of injury. Not anymore.

So if Toews isn't out there for game 1 it won't be a unilateral decision by the team, it will mean he still has symptoms and therefore is not allowed to play.

Hawks don't need Toews to win this series. They're putting him at risk when waiting a week or so wouldn't cost them and he'll have more time to recover.
