You get spaulding all worked up and she'll take some mean spirited sideswipes. And she says people would say she knows nothing about feminity. Pish posh.

Is this a mancard approved phrase?

JORR (a few things excluded) you seem like a manly man. What's the manliest thing about yourself or men, generally speaking?

 I don't really see myself that way. I've never been ambitious enough to be a real "Alpha male". But I think there is a certain way of carrying oneself that's masculine and I don't really think it's something one thinks about consciously.

With specific regard to this discussion, I'm not a particularly handy guy and my girlfriend's ex-husband was Mr. Fix-It. She'll occasionally question me because I don't repair garbage disposals. I would guess I assert my manliess by not giving a fuck.

Back to this tire changing thing for a minute. Driving a car places some risk on you and those you are with (wife, kids, girlfriend/boyfriend). Being able to not strand you and your loved ones was a big deal back in the day. That was the man card. Fix it in 20 minutes or less and roll on.
.

Agreed, though I would shorten that to 10 minutes.

If you have a hydraulic jack and an impact wrench, then it shouldn't take more than 10 minutes. If you are using the crappy jack that came with the vehicle, and removing the lugs with a tire iron, it will take longer.

What the everloving hell are you talking about? You're all over the place. Why would an out if box warranty failure be anything remotely like calling in a repair man? That's just plain silly. If its under warranty and new of course you take it back.
And no offense intended but you're not exactly equipped to be in this conversation. Leave it to the guys.
Yeah I can see bern stine not having time what with those grueling 20 hour work weeks. How would he possibly find those elusive 5 minutes to swap out a disposal? Just impossible.
Let's not forget this is the same man that has no clue which engine his car has. You gonna say he's too busy to know which engine he has? Most cars say right on the fucking body of the car.
Its not one thing Spaulding, its his whole philospophy.

I guess I'm SOL because I get told all the time I know nothing about feminity also.

I'm not all over the place. I addressed the two reasons why you are revoking Bernstein's man card. When we called about our microwave they said they could send somebody out to look at it or we could bring it in. We chose to bring it in. They determined it was best to give us a new one.

You (obviously) are mechanical. Some are not. It would take him longer than 5 minutes I'm guessing. It doesn't make him less of a man. I could see it taking a half hour or more to do it and the chance it would take more is probable.

No offense you are not really equipped to be in this conversation either. You sound like you are talking more about machismo than being a man. If you have extra gold stars on your card for dressing in camo and hunting then you are a macho man not the same as a plain card carrying man. Please tell us what else real men do or don't do, help enlighten me.
This is why women should not be allowed at Augusta.

You are wrong. There was no mean spirit here. You are manly and do manly things. You fix things and buy new microwaves. Hunting is consider manly. You probably wouldn't get a manicure. Just saying, it is more of a measure of machismo than masculinity, IMO. Is that wrong? Should I not be in this conversation?

I demonstrate my manliness by going weeks at a time without bathing and scratching myself in public. Spaulding, you wanna come over tonight?

 I like you timmy.

No, I wouldn't get a manicure.

Sure you belong in this conversation. I don't think a conversation where a man's macho is questioned is complete until a woman defends him.

Now if you ask me if you should be driving or voting...

I like to repair small appliances while hunting deer with only a pocket knife. Then I make sure I order a Miller Lite so the hot bartenders dont make fun of me for drinking the 'other' light beer.

I find that Train lyric about the guy's "untrimmed chest" quite odd.

John Wayne was so straight he would bang gay guys to turn them straight. That's why the gay population exploded after he died.

Man rules... ok here goes.

When your TV goes out, check the cables first, or another tv, don't just call the cable company. Don't be afraid to check a breaker box panel, it's there for you and me. It's ok to own a cat it you got it while in a relationship with a woman and she's not there to refute the claim that it's "her" cat. You should know how to use a hammer, screwdriver, drill and pliers. When someone asks you if you're a god you say "yes". Men know that drinking more beer simply makes us more charming and witty and attractive. You should know to check for obstructions if something like a garage door does not operate properly. I think that sharpening an axe or a lawnmower blade is a simple home repair. Never feed a mogwai after midnight. Never ask which team is playing, only what the score is. You throw the fucking ball with one hand. Changing a tire on the side of the expressway with people flying past you at 85 miles an hour is a risk you take getting into your car. Carry a small pocketknife, it may save your life! Know whether to go on three like one two three, or if it's one, two, three, go. Know how to make manly cocktails, like a martini or an old fashioned, and also some girly crap in case you got a broad over and you're trying to get laid. Buying ballcock and putting it right into place isn't gay. Dykes aren't always lesbians, and needlenoses aren't always nerds. If you kill your own dinner, unzip it and clean it too, and if you want to put the line in the water, be prepered to bait it or take your harvest off the line. There's more. I'll think about it later. Got a final to study for here.

Cmon JORR. The Quiet Man was obviously an allegory for stifling screams due to man on man action.
