I'll take the advice of the 2 white guys and err on the side of caution.

Pack mentality at work again here.
Bottom line: Take the healthiness debate out of it, it's pretty irresponsible on some level to knowingly engage in illegal activities while being a parent.

Any who - anybody have that list of things Lars said it couldn't possibly be (reasons for Mac's absence)? I can't find it and I got a feeling he may have been just a "tad" off on his knowledge.

I'm going to tap dance a bit around this, since I do know why Danny Mac is out. There is a very, very good reason why things are being kept quiet. McNeil is dealing with something tough and his friends at the Score are want to respect his wishes and his privacy. Having his issues debated about in a public forum will only do more harm than good. There are so many rumors out there, and they are getting wilder & weirder by the day. Here is what is NOT going on...

He is not suspended.
He is not holding out for a new contract.
He is not holding out for a bonus or for money.
He was not forced off the air by anybody at WSCR or CBS.
He was not forced off the air by anybody, period.
He is not upset with anybody at his station.
He is not on a long vacation.
He is not out of the country.
He is not in jail, nor has he been arrested.
He is not in any kind of legal trouble.
He is not in rehab for drinking, drugs or gambling.
He is not in any kind of rehab.

He is not dying.
He is not dealing with an illness of any family member of his.
He is not doing this for ratings or attention.
He is not in a witness protection program or hiding from the mob.
This was not pre-planned by any means.

What he is going through is something of a very personal nature. Mitch Rosen and the guys at WSCR-AM are saying that they hope Dan McNeil will be back very soon. The unfortunate fact is, it may not be very soon. This may take some time. I have known others who have gone through what Danny is going through. There is just no quick or easy fix for this.

Hopefully, Dan McNeil will come back to the station at some point in the next few weeks and discuss -- at least minimally -- what is going on. His many fans deserve that. But for right now, what he needs most is space, distance, and time to get back to the Dan McNeil his fans know & love.

There's no big conspiracy going on. There's no need to toss out wild rumors. Just send some positive thoughts his way and wish him the best.

Whoops.

That was during a very low point in my posting career. It never happened, and should never be mentioned...like Trips vs. Taker at WM17.

i dont think it's a pack mentality. I think a lot of people genuinely find Scorehead's statement ridiculous.

You dont. Which is fine.

I would put it on the level of driving with 3 drinks in you. Miniscule chance you get caught, but you could.

This thread shows why he stops reading and posting here on many levels.

You want to rank everything on a scale of "what's worse" or "what's more unhealthy", etc.

Simply: it's pretty irresponsible on some level to knowingly engage in illegal activities while being a parent.

Not exactly. Driving over .08 would be illegal. No idea if having a "few drinks over dinner" makes everyone over .08. I'm not educated enough to know that.

And I'm certainly not educated enough to stick a straw in somebody's mouth and make them blow or to make them stand one one foot while doing the happy dance and reciting the ABC's. That's Rhodes Scholar level stuff there.

To me driving after drinking is more irresponsible than smoking a marijuana cigarette in one's home.

You do realize those are two completely different circumstances, right?

I think that juggling chainsaws while holding an infant is more irresponsible than driving after a couple of drinks.

Just for the record, everyone is aware that drunk driving is illegal? I think murder is worse than doing any drug, but that's not exactly an endorsement of all drugs.

Don't back away. You were speaking truth. The phrase "the n word" is pathetic. Everyone knows what it means. Say the word...or better yet, replace the word with something absurd to highlight the silliness of using the phrase "the n word".

I believe the limit used to be .10. When that was the case, was driving at .09 irresponsible?

I get what you are saying, but there are different levels to that.

Since your first kid was born, have you ever driven over the speed limit? Have you ever driven over the speed limit with your kids in the car? I find it hard to believe if you say no.

You have taken part in poker games at CIJ's place- that is actually illegal.

I would not consider a parent who drinks a beer or 2 and then drives to a poker game going 45 MPH in a 35 zone to be irresponsible.

I agree. The only reason I use it is because our board turns the actual word into "nut" and people can get confused about whether I'm talking about Joos, blacks, or drunken Irishmen.
