Just for the record, everyone is aware that drunk driving is illegal? I think murder is worse than doing any drug, but that's not exactly an endorsement of all drugs.

Yeah.

The other thing though, is if you are just a smoker and not buying huge quantities the worst risk is getting a ticket and fine. Similiar to a speeding ticket.

That plus I'd lose my job for that "ticket and a fine". I wouldn't lose my job for a speeding ticket.

Would you?

How would they find out?

No police blotter. No trip to the station. Just a ticket.

Not being a smart ass here, not sure of the legality of all that. And your proffession might be a little different in this regad.

Im not talking driving with it. Im talking about the million to one shot that someone gets caught smoking it.

Of course some do. What does that have to do with losing their jobs if they are busted? Two separate things.

I remember a discussion about the unfairness of how many people are sitting in jail right now because they had small amounts of marijuana on them. I assumed that those people were attempting to sell it and had fairly large quantities. Is that not true?

Pretty sure it goes in the police blotter. Check the local police blotters - dozens of "unlawful possession" arrests every week just in the Herald-News alone.

i thought every job had to give you rehab as an option before termination ...not sure ...but you can not just live by the letter of the law..some laws are silly and dumb..i believe in hawaii that the age of sexual consent is like 15..so a 40 year old man can sleep with 15 year old girls..that law is dumb and creepy and i doubt anyone here would think that law is a good thing. read my signature ..truer words were never spoken from a great man

This pretty much sums up my point of view on this topic. Thanks for the help.

Ive never been an expert on all the legalities and the legalize it thing, because I dont really care that much.

I know, its been increasingly decriminilized. A lot of places that would have been arrests, just issue citations now.

Pretty sure those are people who are caught driving.

Highly doubt they print tickets in the blotter.

So possessing it in a moving car is worse than on the street?
(Serious question)

not sure how he would feel about slaves..you are getting sidetracked ... some laws are retarded ...so it was ok to drive after 4 drinks 10 years ago at .09 ...but now it is not?..... poss in a car is much worse...if the cops want to be real dicks..they can seize the vehicle with any drugs in it.

Yes, quit getting sidetracked, Hank. Let's stick to the age of consent in the State of Hawaii.

I'm not sidetracked you pointed out a quote that said if a law is unjust we are obligated to disobey it. Back when he said that quote it was also OK to marry a 13 yr old. Should we disobey the laws regarding that as well?

We can pick and choose what laws to follow but we have to accept the consequences if caught.

Well you can't get a DUI on the street.

of course you have to accept the consequences when caught..what choice do you have?... in ten years when marijuana is legal..no med cards ..you will then be ok with it?....that sounds wrong to me..have an opinion for yourself ..don't wait until the government tells you what is good or bad...think for yourself and live life on your terms...public intoxication is drunk while walking.

So you only follow laws that you personally agree with? Seems like a good plan.

Yeah, I think so.

I think a lot of times, they arrest them on possession in lieu of a DUI because its harder to prove someone is high (no breathalyzer convenience)

And I think having it in the car can affect if they look at it as personal or intent to sell.

Really, Im no expert on all this. Just going on stuff Ive heard and seen.

But driving with it is definitely risky.

Yeah, I see your point.

Peopls should go to great lengths to almost never have it in their car.

The people that get busted are usually smoking it in the car, or driving while they are fucked up.

Well thats not exactly what SH said but thats true. Although I dont judge people who drive buzzed.

Actually, that is exactly what I meant. When you get married & have a family, things change...or they should. The nightly partying on the town with buddies should stop, as should any illegal activities, namely drug use. You have a responsibility as a husband & father to be there for them & to act responsibly. To do otherwise is selfish. Staying out of jail & the police reports should be more important than a buzz. Same goes for drunk drivers. It wouldn't bother me at all if all cars had a blow device.

There is less than 0.00000001% chance either of those happens if done responsibly.

It's amazing that small government people like yourself are always the most in favor of a police state.

How about we just have the national guardsmen you would station on every street corner shoot people that are driving intoxicated?
