I had much higher hopes for this show. It was mildly amusing but ultimately disappointing. I'll probably give it one more chance but I got the feeling they want to attract the female demographic. I can't quite figure out if I think the black haired girl is hot.

The ratings are in. 23.7 million viewers watched the premiere last night and drew a 2.9 rating following a 4.1 for last night's "Modern Family" on ABC, which drew 10.3 million viewers. An episode of CBS' "Criminal Minds" won the 8p time slot with 11.7 million viewers and a 3.0 rating.

"The B____" did beat "Rock Center w/Brian Williams" on NBC & CW's "America's Next Top Model" in that time slot, but FOX's "American Idol" won the night with a 4.9 rating & 16.9 million viewers overall.

What?

In plain English, it was a pretty good debut.

How did it have lower ratings than other shows that had less viewers, then?

"American Idol" started at 7p, TP. What I gave initially were the ratings for the 8p hour. ABC was the ONLY one that had 2 different shows at that 8p hour last night. Here's the exact breakdown for yourself:

i made it through about 10 minutes before i just gave up on it. first it reeks of pilotitus, where it has no idea what direction it wants to go in...is it meant to be satirical? is it meant to be over the top? is it meant to be jokey? it had no focus or idea. i think it was just like "this is funny, right?"

and my biggest problem was having james van der beek as himself. that in it of itself is not comical. there's no irony to it, there's no statement about it. it's just literally him playing himself. big fucking deal. the guy hasn't been relevant in over 10 years, and he's not even parodying his dawson character, which is the only thing people remember him for (although he was better served in "rules of attraction")

the "bitch" herself isn't interesting. and the nudity was distracting because it was like they were trying so hard to say "look how controversial we almost are!" at the same time driving home that this chick is a total "free" spirit and also a slut.

the peeping tom neighbor was poorly written too.

just bad all around. not mildly amusing at all. not worth my time on TV. kill it. it belongs in the trash with the other shows that try to follow "modern family", "happy endings" and "whitney". godawful.
