Would you say that Bernstein discussing hockey is like Murph or Jesse Rodgers discussing the NBA?

Ok, so he's starting to go all Mike Northian say something incredibly stupid to get people who already listen everyday to... what exactly? Listen everyday?

He says stuff everyday that piss people off, yet they listen.

Umm some listen...I do not! For all the reasons in this thread.

And if they really dive, I believe it's a penalty. They don't call it a lot, but I have seen it called. More times than not, it's a non-whistle.

Hard to believe someone would advocate their players diving. I'd prefer to teach them to make plays within the context of the offense.

They either blow off the dive or call coincidental minors. Hard to get a standalone diving call.

The Mighty Ducks tried to flop but Conway wouldnt fake a stick to the eye. That team had heart, they had the fire and the passion. That is why.... SPOILER ALERT......they beat the Hawks.

If you're diving and you don't get the call and you're out of the play, you won't last long in whatever sport you're playing. That's just the wrong way to play the game. I know it happens, I know there's soccer floppers all over the place and this is very similar but we can agree faking to be hurt is just disgraceful, and is no way to teach kids or rookies to play.

You know, if I was a goalie and I went behind the net to field the puck, I would just make myself real wide so anyone that tried to go behind the net crashed into me. I can do whatever the hell I want back there. Then I would take a dive, but not a flop.

That's what Smith did.

Lot's of youth hockey coaches have been called for coincidental minors.

I'll see myself out...

Okay, so hockey is just a structurally inferior sport. Okay.

So playing with emotion, hating another team/player, fighting or whatever is bad/dumb/stupid and foolish.....

Diving on every play if that's "what it takes to win" ,even if when you do that you are out of the play and it hurts your team, is just fine and BernSTINE encourages it. But fighting to protect your star player is bad because it....uh, takes you out of the play.

Please move away from the hockey talk.

So now apparently hockey is an over-random illogical sport that has no sense of order, and thus is a lesser game.

That's what Smith did.

I mean blocking it entirely like blocking out for a rebound. It would be easy to bait guys that have a head of steam up and have no choice but to try and go behind the net, then I flip the puck to the other side and plant my legs firmly apart so the guy is a screw....and dive. Smith kind of head faked into him at the last minute. Shaw could have gotten by and slammed into the wall and still missed the head fake.

These posts were made in a calm, meatballish manner.

Funny that you mention North and the NBA. Just last week in discussing the 20th anniversary somebody mentioned the contentious North-Isiah Thomas interview as a Score classic. That was when North acted as if they were both players.

Ah like college basketball. But the best NFL team always wins the Superbowl. Same in MLB. Regular seasons don't matter in the NBA unless you want to criticize the Bulls. It all makes sense.

Simple! "You shoot the puck and it hits a guy and everyone scrambles and it goes in and you win."
Genius!

How can the best NFL team when the Superbowl when Dan Burn Stine will scream that anything can happen in one game, it's the series where the better team inevitably wins?

If you can't appreciate playoff hockey, then you can't be a sports fan. You don't have to love it like some of us do, but it is some amazing drama and crazy stuff. And then overtime...wow.

Shaw has easily been one of the better and most consistent players the last couple weeks, so yeah, I'd say he's kinda important.

I hope he segues into how Harangody won't make it in the NBA. He's just so smart about sports.....
