No he's not. He had a solo HR Friday and Sunday, but when he was up in the 3rd innings of Friday's game and as the tying run in the 9th on Sunday, he struck out.

Little rough on him there Frank.

He's hitting .286, already has 2 homers, and has saved a game defensively.

He's not been terrible (certainly nowhere near as terrible as some of the guys), but I'm just saying he has been up in key situations already and failed a couple of times.

I don't think you change anything based on one game.

Especially since, he was one correct call away from locking up another one.

The Orioles' lineup is in, and only 2 left-handed hitters are in Buck Showalter's lineup tonight. Here's their starting 9:

14 Nolan Reimold LF (R)
2 J.J. Hardy SS (R)
21 Nick Markakis RF (L)
10 Adam Jones CF (R)
32 Matt Wieters C (S)
12 Mark Reynolds DH (R)
24 Wilson Betemit 3B (S)
19 Chris Davis 1B (L)
11 Robert Andino 2B (R)

The one notable change in tonight's Baltimore lineup is in BOLD type. Wei-Yin Chen does the chucking for the O's, while John Danks goes for the White Sox in the second of four this eve.

A soft tossing lefty named Chen. I don't have a good feeling about this game.

Why is Rios running there?

And why wouldn't he try to stay in a rundown and see if maybe AJ scores?

Stupid player.

I hope its just a bad little stretch, but this has a feeling much like last season with the blown saves and/or lack of offense and/or a prolonged losing streak. I said I think the Sox split and I hope I am right, but this Morel and Beckham thing is getting old quick. I know its only 9 games in, but these guys don't look even close to breaking out of this anytime soon.

I guess the one good thing is that the starting pitching has still been pretty decent this series.

Beckham sure looks like he's going to get sent down. You can't keep going with him. It isn't just these nine games. He's looked lost for a long time. I don't know what you do about third base. I think we're stuck with Morel and have to hope he does better.

The problem is that you have 2 guys (3 if you count Dunn) who are basically automatic outs. Morel is not a #2 hitter. If you had just one guy struggling, you could bat them 8th or 9th and deal with it. To have guys hitting #2 and #3 that are hitting under .200, and then have another guy hitting 9th who is hitting under .100...it just doesn't work.

That is a whole lot of swingin' and missin' at the top there.

Normally I wouldn't have an issue with hitting AJ 6th or 7th, but he is so hot right now that he needs to be in the middle of that lineup.

I know.

Something has to jump start Beckham though. Doesn't it?

I mean he can't just go from stud college player to shitbird in 4 years can he?

Who releases the lineup 12 hours before the game?

A trip to the minors probably. He's been hitting 9th, he became somewhat of a platoon guy last year, I'm not sure what else could help him out. There have been hundreds of guys (pitchers and hitters) who have been at the big league level, gone back to the minors, to get called back up and have really nice careers.

It's not the actual lineup. It's what I'd do.

Sorry for the confusion.

If that's what it takes for him to get right, then do it already.

Beckham and Morel are painful to watch right now.

How would moving Beckham up in the order help tho? That would just seem to add more pressure to him and you know he is feeling a ton of it already.

The only thing it might do it get him to hit with some guys on base. If there is anybody on base when he bats, I would put a hit and run on, at least give him a chance to do something productive.

I just don't see how that would work. Even if you believe in the concept of "protection", it's not like they're just feeding Beckham a diet of off-speed stuff. He doesn't hit fastballs either. He just looks completely lost out there.

Looking at Peavy's numbers, he looks pretty good so far. I know the history of being hurt, but I am looking at picking him up for my fantasy team as he gets 2 starts next week. What say you Sox fans?

Coin flip at best. He's been good so far, but its early, and any pitch could be his last. He gets Oakland on the road and Boston. He should be able to handle Oakland, but I could see him giving up some runs to Boston, especially at the Cell.

The lineup is in for the third of four between the White Sox & Orioles, and yes, the gruesome twosome of Brent Morel & Gordon Beckham are in this lineup. There is one noticeable change, which is listed in bold type below:

30 Alejandro De Aza CF (L)
22 Brent Morel 3B (R)
32 Adam Dunn DH (L)
14 Paul Konerko 1B (R)
12 A.J. Pierzynski C (L)
51 Alex Rios RF (R)
1 Kosuke Fukudome LF (L)
10 Alexei Ramirez SS (R)
15 Gordon Beckham 2B (R)

Jake Peavy does the chucking vs. the Orioles' Tommy Hunter. Needless to say, good seats are available.

Peavy is pitching on borrowed time. It is not a matter of if he gets hurt again, but when.
