Just looking up box scores online. Seems like a great decision so far by me.

So you must think Lahair is Babe Ruth?

Speaking of Babe Ruth.....I am tired of hearing how he is the greatest baseball player of all time. He wouldn't make it out of AA today. The footage I have seen of him makes it look like he is playing slowpitch softball.

I think the Babe would have done just fine for himself in today's game.

Look, no one knows how Ruth would do in today's MLB. You can look at stats and his swing and all kinds of other things, but you have to take into account that he could take advantange of modern advances. Maybe he is a video guy and finds pitchers that are tipping their pitches. Maybe hitting the weights actually makes him better. Also, you could be totally right. He might suck balls batting and pitching in the league as it is today. You cant compare players from that far across generations. He did an awesome job crushing the ball in his era. He should receive all the credit he gets, regardless of how slow his swing look.

He definitely dominated his era but there is no way in hell that swing works today. I'm just tired of hearing how he is the greatest of all time when he probably wouldn't make a team today.

Two separate statements though.

Can be an all-time great and not be good in the modern era.

I think his swing/pitching looked slow because of the old film. I can't imagine it was running in real-time.

Something tells me he would be able to adjust.

I'm fine with him being an all time great...just not greatest of all time. I was prompted to say that because last week I was watching some sports station and they said of course babe ruth is the greatest hitter that ever lived.

He is, it's not even close.

Why even bother with that? I will say that if, for whatever deranged reason, you feel compelled to follow baseball, simply reading the box scores is the best way to do so. No right-thinking man should subject himself to watching that shit.

He was a good hitter but I think Ted Williams was likely the greatest hitter that ever lived. Probably a few other
guys in there that could be argued as well.

Made it the year without watching a Cubs game. Saw an inning here or there at the bar. Wasn't nearly as miserable this summer as I typically am watching. I know RFDC is happy for me.

I watched half of one game this summer on a weekend. I tuned in for a few innings once
when the Sox were on the Score. Other than that I ignored the whole thing. I am not one
to stare at a car accident when passing by.

You are going to feel left out in a few years when Cubs fans are trading their favorite Justin Germano stories

Impressive. I would be happier for you if you committed to not posting here until the Cubs win a world series.

There is a better chance of Indiana being decent in football before that happens.
