agreed...i see no improvement ..shame to waste that strong arm..i would try 3rd base...when his feet are set he is accurate ... he has a lot of range and would be able to set his feet at 3rd a majority of the time.

With the way this season has gone and will likely continue to go, might as well keep him at SS for a while longer and see what happens. Maybe he stays the same, maybe he gets better. I'd give him til like June 1st before a move is made.

I'd give him the rest of the year. He's not blocking anyone obviously. If no improvement is made, let him have the offseason to start working on the different positioning and coverage that 2nd requires.

They should just give him Soriano's outfield glove, when they finally dump him. It should have plenty of catches left in it.

soriano is not going anywhere..like i have been saying for 3 years...nobody is taking that deal on, dejesus is gone after this season....lets see is lahair is a legit major league hitter..way too early to tell .... soriano in left with jackson in center and castro in right is not bad.

Nobody gets jokes, JOKES people!!!!

But yes, there has been many a infielder that has been moved to the outfield, look no further than Braun. Have to find a place for their bats, and the outfield is the place to go.

For teams that NEED an outfielder, that might make sense.

But you aren't going to put Starlin Castro as a corner outfielder. Ideally, you want your corner positions to generate some pop in their bat. Meanwhile, second base is one of the weakest offensive positions...and you have a player that would fit PERFECTLY at that spot. Why the fuck would you move him to an already (potentially) deep position? It makes no sense.

Where are all of these proven outfielders that you have, and why aren't they helping your team now.

If he has the arm and the range then I don't understand why they can't fix his mechanics and accuracy. He might not be better at 2nd as you make alot of plays moving to either side at 2nd as opposed to balls hit right at you.

shurczer blows and has no power..castro has some power and will probably hit 18 this year...braun did not go to left because "they needed a left fielder"..he went because he is an absolute butcher in the field...normally when you have a butcher that hits so well, he goes to first...but they already had prince there so they put him where he can cause the least amount of damage after 1st..left field ..these prospects like shurczer and sappelt have no future here or probably anywhere else in the long run... i don't want the best hitter getting his legs taken out covering 2nd base all year ..and has a strong arm with some pop.

Yes, I did miss the term potentially. I still don't think that is a reason not to move him to outfield if whoever is in charge thought it would be best for him in the long haul.

As a Cubs fan, one must realize quickly that the people in charge don't always make the best decisions.

 and that we can agree on.

Castro will be moved to 3rd and he'll probably be pretty good over there.

Ceaser has swing issues.

Maybe because he can't play anywhere else.

Actually, right now there is a dearth of good corner outfielders across the game. I don't think I've ever seen outfields so weak overall.

I just don't see Castro being very good anywhere in the infield. Maybe you can get away with him at third, but that's a position where you'd ideally like more power.

I've always believed he would wind up in the outfield. Maybe not with the Cubs.

I don't see third being any better, honestly. I've seen him throw terribly from a set position plenty. I've seen him throw on the run accurately. And I've seen the opposite of both. I know he has a fantastic arm...it just isn't accurate...so the closer it is to first...the better.

Besides, the Cubs have Vitters and Baez waiting for third base.

The only benefit I see of moving him to 3rd is that you only get about 65% as many Total Chances at 3rd as you do at SS. So if he played equal defense there, he wouldn't cost as many runs.

But I want someone with at least 20-HR power at my 3rd base.

This reminds me of what happens with the Bears. They draft someone and tell you he's a Left Tackle, and you get excited, then he ends up having to play Guard and you find out later that people expected him to be a Guard all along. The (previous administration) Cubs drafted guys that they tell you will be a SS, 2B, or CF, then have to move them to an easier position, where their value isn't nearly as high. Or they tell you a guy like Castro or Fukudome has 25-HR power, and it's never true.
