Swaimer is giving him 1OO ab's.

42 ab's
3 hits
58 to go before he can go

He also has had 3 walks so those should absolutely count against his 100 ab's.

He has made a lot of dumb mistakes in center this year....for instance....the ground ball single that he couldn't pick up and then throwing to the wrong base

UMN,
Obviously you have a much stronger stomach than I do for watching Cubs baseball. I tried to watch a few games when I'm not working ( not home much lately). They fall behind and I get pissed and shut it off.

Good team guy but time to go (needless to say). Certainly looks like a PED user based on the 30+ pounds of bulk he lost since last year...

there was some story a few years ago where he was taking like 20 "natural" supplements to help his weight lifting.

No. Not until the end of June. The Joe Mather era has begun. Or they will call up crazy legs.

Byrd traded for Michael Bowden and a PTBNL. Bowden was a former first round draft pick out of Waubonsie Valley HS.

Byrd is worthless. The fact they got a warm body even one that was DFA is hard to believe. Bowden should go right in the bullpen.

Hell yes!! Waubaunsee valley represent. Why would anyone trade anything for him? Campana will be up and not Jackson.

Campana's already up but I'd much rather see Mather get some PT. Not that it really matters.

This move was one I had expected closer to the trade deadline, when the Cubs might be looking to bring Jackson up. But saving a bit more money and giving the playing time to guys that may be on the roster (even as subs) a couple years from now, is fine. Byrd was a very good team player and a guy who was probably a good example for younger players, but without the PED's he looks overmatched these days. Who's next?.....Dempster? Soto? Garza?

The roster flush continues. Countdown to relevance: 2 years and counting, but baby steps, baby steps.

Even in Byrd's best season (all-star) with the Cubs, his power numbers (HR & RBI) were poor. If the lefty they got in this deal pans out its a huge win.

Good luck Byrd.
He was better than we hoped before he was beaned.
Good guy. Always heard he was a hard worker.

He may have been a hard worker but I haven;t heard one player/reporter/etc say "good guy" when talking about Marlon Byrd. Usually words like "surly" and "mean".
