The asking two guys a question at the same time thing was a little strange. Had to be difficult to find a way to include everybody, though...

Average NFL career is like 3 years. 6 is more than a cup of coffee. That said, not a big Bowen fan.

I had to work really late last night and listened to the whole thing. A lot of good information and opinions
but there we so many voices going back and forth it was a bit muddled. Overall I enjoyed it as I like the
week of the draft. Real interesting to see what the Bears end up doing.

I never jumped on the Matt Bowen bandwagon. It sounds like some folks are starting to jump off.
I don't like his voice & the "I played for Mike Martz & the Rams" bit is old.

With regards to the Score NFL roundtable, yea, any forum like this that doesn't include Hub is weak sauce.

I thought it was a great listen - I can't believe how nobody talked over one another either - very difficult with that many people.

Brian Hanley hasn't worked at the Sun Times for over two years btw.... He could give a rat's ass about that paper. I gotta hand it to Biggsy - he jumped before he got shoved out the door at the Sun Times.

Grid, I wasn't sure it was going to work, but Laurence "Mr. Multimedia" Holmes and his special guests did a nice job. They covered a lot of ground, and they didn't have 1 single update after Matt Rodewald's final update of the day at 6p.

By the way, there are pictures up at CBSchicago.com if you want to see how it was set up.

It was interesting to listen to, not sure of just how informative it was, but the gimmick itself made for a unique couple hours of radio.

I'm not one to jump on the ZZ is a Homer bandwagon, but every response I heard him make was a party-line defense of the Bears. They had injuries, they've got the talent, etc.

Jump on Ken, there's plenty of room left.

2 things have changed my once favorable opinion of Pompeii.

1. Constant drumbeat of how the bears o-line is ok. And j'marcus is fine.

2. He actually said that he thinks sanzenbacher should be back next year. I forgot who was hosting but the dead air following that statement was deafening. I kept waiting for the punchline that never came.

They'd won 18 of 26...

No shit there Dr. Ken. He beats that Stat to death. Also the number of points per game before the cutler injury.

My takeaways about the participants:

LoHo - If he was moderating, he did a stellar job. I know he's the CSFMB whipping boy, but I've got no problem with Laurence
ZZ - Man... the defender of the Bears organ-I-zation -as pointed out above, was always quick to enable more of the same
Mully - GREAT to hear him on the muscle - a more awake and alert guy at 6PM. He loves DEs, always has.
Biggsy - Tired of talking about shitty young Bears players - I don't care who they draft, just make sure they contribute!
Pompei - Networked in nationally - probably from his time at The Sporting News (which had no Draft Guide for the first time this year). Could use some coffee now and again.
Bowen - Wake up pal - you're voice lulls me to sleep. We know, you like competition - that's because you were a marginal player - I want playmakers! I wonder if nobody trusts him now, as he's a snitch. Good with X's and O's - but it gets old after awhile

Best line of the night, I think it was Mully, went something like this -

Bowen - You want a get a guy who get on the QB and knock him on the side of the helmet.

Mully ? - Yeah, that's because you played for Gregg Williams.

He made a similar joke on his show this morning. What a tool...

For all the ribbons being thrown Pompeis way, I have never been impressed. The guy took a few years off to go cover golf and was still a "bears expert?"

Mulligan still making the best point of the night! If everyone that Angelo employed (Scouts) is still there and they are so good, then what was the problem? Lovie?

Pompei never left to cover golf did he? He was with Sporting News as their main NFL beat reporter. Dan Pompei has covered more than 500 NFL games and 23 Super Bowls in a career that has taken him from the Sun-Times to The Sporting News to the Tribune. He is one of 44 selectors for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, and one of nine members of the senior committee.

Jerry Angelo's drafting of defensive players go much WORSE once Lovie Smith got more power after the Super Bowl.

Hell, most of the 'team leaders' were drafted when Lovie wasn't even around:

Kreutz, Urlacher, Mike Brown, Pat Mannelly < Hatley guys
Briggs, Tillman, Izzy < Angelo drafted 'em and UDFA Izzy while Jauron was here

So it makes you wonder how much Lovie has to do with the current lack of no young up and comers on defense. Angelo was the GM, he should have done what he knew was right.

I liked this morning when they broke down Angelo's 1st rounders while he was here - MANY more on offense than defense. Kind of surprised me.
