I don't subscribe anymore mainly because I got annoyed whenever the paper wasn't there and it happened quite a bit. Maybe they never delivered it. Maybe someone snatched it. I don't know. All I know is I don't have the paper I paid for. Too much aggravation. I'd rather just walk or drive to 7-Eleven and buy the papers. I read both of them everyday.

Reading the actual paper is a completely different experience than reading online. You have to seek stuff out online. And I don't care who you are, it's human nature to simply seek out those things in which you are already interested. So there's going to be a lot of stuff you're not getting. You may not care, but that doesn't mean it isn't important.

No tip should ever be required for carryout. You are doing all the work. Now, if I have to pay cash because for some stupid reason the place think it's 1995 and they can get away with being cash only I'll throw the coins in the jar because I can't stand having coins with me.

With wait staff, unless it's obvious, you should give them the benefit of the doubt. It's often bad management that leads to bad service. Also, they may be new. Now, if they are sitting at the bar talking about how they were so drunk last night then you can enjoy your lowered tip. Never less than 12% though. That sends a message without putting them on a diet of ramen noodles.

If you don't, make sure that you do. A couple of years ago before band practice, Darko, drummer jesus and I met for breakfast. IIRC, Darko put the bill on his card and we paid him cash. We also left cash for tip, but the server had changed the amount run on his card to include the tip. He can verify, but I think thats how it all went down.

I rarely tip at carryout. If its a big order like for a party or something I will.

Our egg rolls or fried rice is usually free. Every once and a while we get drinks salads or desserts from our pizza place. If it's a big order for having people over free cheese pizza or one of the ones we ordered will be free. Waiters and waitresses will give free apps, drinks, or dessert. Honestly we probably break even over the course of a year but everybody is happier. They bust their ass for us and I'm never thinking they did something to my food.

That's exactly how it went down. Bitch helped herself to a $10 tip on a $17 breakfast.
I almost always tip in cash when paying with a CC. Normally, on the tip line, I write "cash". This one damn time I didn't and she just added a $10 tip in there.
Credit card company was fantastic, they took damn fine and quick care of it too. Capital One.

The chinese place are the owners. The pizza guy is the one that started "and take a free cheese pizza for da leetle ones" in a great Italian accent. An occasional free something is part of what keeps me a loyal customer with deep pockets. If they gave me something free last time or might this time sometimes I over order. They are being smart small business owners.

Same applies to restaurants we frequent. They also make more than enough to make up for it on alcohol. I probably average about $18-27 when I go out. If we go out with friends or parents our bar bill can be about 50% of our tab.

I wonder how much you tip a guy for putting in hardwood floors.

This raises another interesting conversation. Some people don't believe in tipping owners. I've known guys who didn't tip when the owner waited on us and I know there are women that don't tip at a salon if the owner is the one doing their hair. Should we be exempt from tipping owners? CSFMB- what say you?

Eh, depending on prices and/or what she is drinking, that may only be like 3 drinks.

We can drink $2-4 pints of beer and be fine. Sometimes the gals drink a martini or wine at the tune of $6-9 a pop. It can add up real quick.

I always tip well. Partly because I worked as a waiter at a country club in my younger days so I remember how it was to make BELOW minimum wage and depend on gratuity. To Insure Proper Service.(TIPS). 15% minimum even if service is subpar unless I am just ignored totally. Then they get a dollar. Usually 25% anywhere we go to sit down,order and eat. They remember. We go to a breakfast place called Riverside and the waitresses fight to wait on us because they know even if my nine year old daughter is being a total fuckstick and I am on two hours of sleep and a grouchy asshole they are gonna get paid damn well.
