Has anyone here used either of these companies?

I'm looking to get my crawlspace sealed (the smell from the bodies is starting to get bad).

Their estimates, after some negotiations, have come in pretty close to each other.

Anyone?

Perma Seal came to my house and said it would cost 10k to seal my basement - I'm still laughing.

i used US Waterproofing to try and get rid of a leak that is creating some puddles in my basement during larger rainfalls. they "diagnosed the problem" and sent a guy out to take care of it.

next time it rained - same issue.

they said that now in order to take care of the problem it will require me to take out part of my back wall (for them to get into the foundation where the cracks are) - i'm not quite sure if i want to trust them on that.

Yeah. We're not going to do the encapsulation now anyway, but I didn't care for either company. As it turns out, the perma seal guy said there were 2 cracks. The us waterproof guy said he saw no cracks. Turns out the us waterproof guy never even went into the crawl space (my mother-in-law was there to let him into the house-she initially left that little piece of info out). On top of that, after some discussion with him, he dropped his price by just over 2/3. It just left me with a bad feeling about him.

Let me explain that neither of them actually attacks the crack (bye cracky)

I cant stand those guys. It's close to a scam.

what exactly is the problem? a cheap fix is you and your buddy dig down the the footing on the outside of the home at the crack...you put a sheet of volclay ...not sure if the spelling is correct my friend bought the volclay ..it kinda looks like cardboard but it expands when it gets wet...you tar the sheet to the foundation wall and 9 out of ten times it stops the leak...i think the sheets are around 40 dollars.

Any place that advertises on The Score is a place you probably don't want to deal with.

Cheap yes, but not a Fix. It is the same as betonite, which is loose dry clay. Both work like a sponge in front of the wall. Absorbs the water before it enters the house, but if the betonite is saturated, water still comes in.

If you really want to know how to fix a crack in the foundation, feel free to PM me.

Can't remember who we used but in mid-90's after a really cold winter one of the walls in the basement developed a crack (by CRACKY!). After that water leaked in every time it rained. For about two hundred dollars they injected, from the inside, some kind of epoxy sealer into a few places in the wall up and down the crack line.

Bone-dry ever since.

i have seen that work a few times and i have used hydraulic cement to fix small leaks ...but the best way is to saw cut the perimeter of the basement and install drain tile and a add a pit/pump...the only problem is the dust dust ...even running a hose and spraying down everything the dust is unbelievable....why pm bigfan? spitballing ideas here what ya got?

My dad's house is older and has a cinderblock foundation. I'm afraid there is more than one crack that is letting water in....but nothing that is visable. So I think it cost less than $5 grand for the process of cutting out the perimeter and installing drain tile and add pit/pump. The basment has been dry for over 2 years with heavy rains, snow melt, etc....and we couldn't be happier with the price & the results. Just sayin.
