Of course its bullshit. Have you seen Bernstein?

He's a troll. And he's not even successful by Jewish standards.

No way he's making demands in that marriage.

I'm glad we're recognizing that every word danny says on the radio might not be true. I've known he isn't a Sox fan for a long time.

You're burying the lead!

He was going on about fat people, how they disgust him, how his wife can't be fat by why of legal contract etc etc.....and he said it all in the presence of MeatPants.

I'm sure he knew exactly what he was doing....

That was some uncomfortable radio.

No doubt it was a shot at Speigs. There's no love lost between those two for sure. And I don't think Mac was joking when he said, "Don't split hairs with me bernstein. I'm not in the mood." yesterday. I'm guessing those guys really can't stand li'l danny. But I would find it strange if that weren't the case. bernstein is a colossal douche.

I had a big laugh at that when Mac said it, as well. He just wanted to talk about his exercise and mental situation and BernSTINE just comes on and shits all over it and wouldn't stop until Mac let him know it was time to stop. But you have to love (or not) when BernSTINE starts to go on one of his tangents talking about whatever crap or personal story and everyone in the room just keeps talking over him...and BernSTINE continues to spit the story out. Funny.

Transitions can be good, bad and damn uncomfortable, icky radio.

I always tune in.

Frankly, this thread is full of CSFMB champions. I had to read a few of the deeper posts twice just to understand what they were saying. Lots of good analysis on page 5.

What I can't figure out about Bernsie is what percent is an act and what percent is really him. I always felt like he is a 100% a-hole, and that very little of it was an act. But I hold out the possibility that the entire thing is an act, and he just goes home and laughs about it all. I guess with some of his tweets posted here, it makes me think that it is not an act.

When he first started he was 100% real.

Since he's teamed with Terry, he's become less and less real and more radio character.

And I think his sports thoughts on Twitter are an extension of his radio act. They just read so different from his "normal life" tweets.

Of course I'm probably wrong.

That's the interesting thing. If you listen to the show it seems like bernstein is the lead dog and Terry is just some senile old man stuttering and making odd noises in agreement. But if you've been there from the beginning it's very clear that Terry has had a much greater influence on dan than vice versa.

Exactly.

When Bernstein first started getting evening and weekend shifts, he was really entertaining. He had fun and entertained opinions other than his own. He was still a championships-or-bust guy but his personalized wasn't as abrasive.

I think Berns is 90% real, 10% act. He rubs people the wrong way b/c he says what's on his mind rather than worrying about the social "niceties" that most of us worry about. People who have self confidence wouldn't let what he says bother them one iota (Boers, Mac). Others, who lack that confidence, get all worked up about what a little jerkoff says about them (Meat, Ofman, Murph, meathead callers, others).

Well I remember him from the days when he was calling into the show and would finish with his signature Score 670. While I could tell he had an edge, I appreciated his thoughts. It is amazing to me that I can't even listen to one minute of the show anymore because of the non-sense, hatred, and ridiculous stuff that occurs. Oh there are funny moments, but to just pound every caller and spew negative chatter, does not appeal to me. One guy doesn't seem to watch current sports, while the other tells you why nothing you watch matters. God forbid I get excited when the Cubs tie it up last night only to be disappointed when they give it right back. Why the heck else would I watch?

As a listener I get worked up because I don't find it entertaining. It's akin to nails on a chalkboard.....and thus I don't listen.

Listened to the first couple hours of this show online, and they were both pretty understated about the injury thing. Berns especially has personally declared the Bulls season over, and doesn't really want to talk about anything. Both sides of baseball suck, the Bulls are fighting an uphill battle to even make a statement in the playoffs, Bears aren't even in camp yet, and they hate hockey.

To boot, now that Rose is out, Bernsy is already in Basketball Depression, so I would expect the next week's worth of shows to be pretty forgettable. Unless of course some major scandal/event occurs that transcends sports, in which case B/B will be a treat to listen to.

At least in June the Sandusky trial should begin, so that should refresh the coffers on that particular branch of quality radio, unless they beat the "I can't hear ya"/Paterno impression to death.

This is a bullshit narrative. The Cubs are historically awful. The Sox are a contender or, at the very least, a somewhat better than mediocre team. WCUB.

Wrong. The quickest, simplest, easiest definition of "mediocre" is........................ .500.

the problem with baseball is that there really isn' much to talk about. statistical analysis has pretty much answered every question there is to ask.

The Sox are better than they were last year, which isn't saying much. That being said, I still insist this current Sox organization is the baseball equivalent of flavorless gruel.

Once again Cubs-Sox silliness derails a discussion on CSFMB.

Great thread guys.

I think it is mostly the "Real" BernSTINE at this point. The 'tell' for me is how he treats the people that he works with...Schuster, Zach, Meat, he will try with Mac and really anyone else (as Hatchetman stated) that he knows it will needle at. At one point it probably was mostly an act but he has been in this chair for too long and has been trending to douchebag status (now with more outlets like Twitter) I guess he has just turned into a caricature of himself. I enjoyed the show a lot more several years ago when he wasn't like this and Terry was a man with an actual thought. The craziness sounded more legitimate.

They want to sell the show as a "Smart Persons Sports Talk Show" but in reality, or at least my reality, the show has steadily DE-volved into a predictable, meatball show full of yelling, strawmen and the like. But as I've stated before, this is what happens over a shows long tenure. They just got lazy, still better than most Chicago sports radio but we aren't talking about other shows.

While we're at it, he has a misunderstanding of the term "historically bad".
The Charlotte Bobcats were historically bad this year. The Cubs are bad, but there are 5-6 teams worse than them this year alone.

Ok. I'll stop.

The questions is......ARE WE BIGGER THAN CUBS - SOX?

I say, Yes!

I'm actually finding this thread quite enjoyable to participate in. Good thoughts on our radio hero's and the like.

All we are missing is some cockface to come in and scold us for having the temerity(!) to discuss B&B in the B&B show thread.

my "new" SCR lineup: Mac and Boers followed by North and Bernstein. These guys need to get out of their comfort zone.

I wasn't trying to say Cubs > Sox or anything like that, I'm just saying there's not 5 hours worth of Sox discussion on them a day. The Cubs are barely worth talking about at all.
