What's the scariest scene you've ever seen in a movie? Mine was a little scene from Exorcist III. Not a great movie, but this scene still gives me nightmares.

YES.

I remember watching this scene as a kid.....scared the shit out of me. Plus the nurse had no blood left in her!

I believe....in....you.

Jesus chus, why don't you just rock me to sleep why don'tcha?

Scariest scene in a movie? I always thought the opening credits to "A Nightmare on Elm Street" was spooky as fuck, where he's building his glove? 'course, I was a kid back then. Now the scariest scene I have is reading my damn property tax bill.

The worst part of that movie for me was when she thinks everything is fixed and is laying in bed with her son and it seems really peaceful. That scene just freaks me out everytime. The kid's reaction is great.

Aidan: What happened to the girl?
Rachel: Samara?
Aidan: Is that her name?
Rachel: M-hm.
Aidan: Is she still in the dark place?
Rachel: No. We set her free.
Aidan: You helped her?
Rachel: Yeah.
Aidan: Why did you do that?
Rachel: What's wrong, honey?
Aidan: You weren't supposed to help her.

I know, I was in high school when it came out so I should have been too old to be so scared by a movie but it stayed with me for a while. Just really got inside my brain.

As far as a movie that scared the hell out of me when I was a young lad. Child's Play fucking had me scared witless for weeks as a yout. Poor 80's parenting let me watch that movie far too young.

when i was a kid, the gamorck scene in "neverending story" gave me neverending nightmares. especially the painting of it before atreyu sees it.

a few come to mind:

the scene in "poltergeist 2" when carol ann's mom is having a vision of the preacher kane taking all of the followers into the cave and he's got probably one of the most horrible grins on his face i've ever seen. that's the face of pure evil.

the scene in the opening of "twilight zone: the movie" where dan ackyroyd says "wanna see something really scary?" and turns around. also the entire 3rd story of that movie is chilling. (i.e. girl with no mouth)

the scene in "it" when stan uris is reading bird names while some horrible mummy is stalking him. whatever house that was they filmed was incredibly creepy.

still find the final shot of "the blair witch project" haunting as hell.

and of course...the opening to "begotten" (couple minutes in):

Scariest thing I have ever seen in either the theater or TV was Bill Clintons testimony for his impeachment hearings.

The cemetery scene in The Omen where they dig up Damien's mother's grave and find a jackal's skeleton.

A lot of times when I'm taking out the garbage I think of the scene from Silent night deadly night 2. But that's kind of funny.

One scene that always stuck with me is from the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. One of the idiot kids is bumbling around the family's house when he trips through a doorway and Leatherface hits him in the head with a hammer and the guy starts writhing around like a stunned piece of livestock. Then ole Leatherface just slams this metal door closed, leaving it to your imagination what horrors await the poor bastard.

One thing that sticks in my mind is how much the original Night Stalker movie affected me.
The movie was presented as a real life type deal that made me think maybe vampires can exist.

All the other Night Stalker movies and shows were weak by comparison.

the dinner scene makes me shiver; but that scene you just mentioned is just plain cool. tobe hooper was a real disappointment overall to the horror world but he had a few good ones...that's still his best.

my favorite scene is the wheelchair kid "pttthhhhing" over and over again.

These stick out...

1 - First Nightmare on Elm Street, scene with the kid being dragged along the walls in the bedroom and the scene where they were in the house and trying not to fall asleep with dead silence for a good minute or two.

2 - The Shining, the scene with Here's Johnny and the bathroom scene.

3 - Marathon Man, "Is it safe?".

4 - As mentioned by someone else, the scene of IT. I have a thing with clowns, so that really enhanced how shit scared I was.

5 - Evil Dead 1, ending scene.

6 - Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, the temple scene with the heart getting ripped out stuck in my mind for some time.

Just think, that all could have been avoided if the R's didn't find sex with girls so icky. What about the moral crusaders (Gingrich, Hyde, Livingston, Barr, Burton, etc.) who were calling for Clinton's impeachment while they were involved in sex scandals of their own?

The Howling scene where the guy who changes into a werewolf is in the woods in a tree peeping through Dee Wallace's window. Creepy as fuck.

Here's one from a movie I've mentioned before, Event Horizon, that creeped me out, mainly because of this scene. The ship's original crew...IN HELL

I think it's underrated as well.

You know, if you took elements from The Howling and combined it with elements from American Werewolf In London, you would have the perfect werewolf movie. I love both movies but both have flaws.
