I am sure there are some old threads on this somewhere, but here is another one. I am tempted to try this service, and the free NFL package sounds pretty nice. this question is basically for anyone who has used this service or is using it - is this the way to go? i use comcast now and dont have any service issues, just price. Is the service good with Directv? i have read some dreadful reviews of them today that has tempered my enthusiasm, and the guy i talked to today about switching seemed like he was working a bit too hard to sell me on it, like i was buying a used car. and the whole "contract" thing makes me uneasy to.

any insight from people who have made this move is appreciated.

I have directv & like it. I have the NFL package so I can watch the Bears. Do not have it for free but every year I call them and it get discounted to a much much cheaper price. I never have any real reception issues. I've got it on right now...as we are getting the outer edge of the hurricane and my kids are watching bugs bunny. If you are going to do it... And want to earn the refer a friend credit pm me and I'll give you my info it's for ten dollars off a month for ten months

I tried to get them to give me a discount on the NFL season pass thing and they would not do it. So I am not getting the season pass this year, first time in several years. No way I am paying full price for that thing. I love the Bears, but not that much.

i would never pay for the sunday ticket, but it is a nice freebie for that first year, especially since my favorite team isnt local. i just dont want to pull the trigger for something like that, sign a 2-year deal with them, and have the service suck.

I've been a long time customer and have found the service to always be great.

That said, the Sunday ticket is the biggest ripoff in the history of life. If you only want the redzone they still make you pay $400 for Sunday ticket just to have the privelege of paying another $100 for redzone. Consider that you can get the redzone now on any provider for peanuts and this puts how much of an ass fuck this is. I cancelled sunday ticket last month as a result.

I got the sunday ticket for the same price as red zone channel from xfinity this year, so I'm not complaining.

Can I ask if anybody had issues with the Sunday Ticket yesteraday, I was reading on profootballtalk.com, that they had streaming issues, and then in the comments they were talking about some of their boxes freezing up and you had to reset.

This was even at the Sports Bars, I don't know if it was just the HD receivers, or others. People were even commenting that they were in Sports Bars and the pictures were freezing and had to be reset, doesn't sound like a good day for Directv.

On my box, I had to reset about 3 times, but my box has had some issues since I got this one about 3 years ago, so I don't know if I was having the issues or not.

I just wondered if anybody had problems or was somewhere that had problems.

thanks for everyones input. i decided not to make this move based on a lot of complaints i have seen on consumer websites and some feedback from people here in town who have done it. I also read that the NFL Sunday Ticket promotion this year is in standard definition, not HD, and me being the snob HD snob i am said fuck that, i will go to the bar and watch instead. plus, i am very unnerved by companies that make you deal with "contracts". if your product is so fucking good, why should i need to sign a contract promising to pay for 2 years?

Yes, I was having issues with it too, yesterday...had to reset three times before it finally woudln't freeze anymore...so much for the free week trying to get me to buy it...

mofo, the promotion has been SD only for a few years now, from what I understand...when my parents switched to DirecTV and got it, I had to shell out the extra hundred for HD...I too am an HD snob...my dad said he couldn't tell the difference...

I didnt have any real problems on sunday. During the four late games I tried out the game mix channel...702 I think. I have used this before and was always able to scroll over to whatever game and get the audio for that game....then if I wanted it full screen, hit select. On sunday....I had no control of it....just the audio for one of the games and no ability to change or select anything. Anyone else see this? Anyone try it during the early games?

I am bumping this, because I had a question for people that have multiple receivers, do you have them all connected to a phone line?

I am thinking of upgrading some tv's to Directv, and reading about it's, did say for them to work, need connected to a phone line.

I thought I have not had mine connected all the time and still seems to work.

I don't and they work fine. I believe they need to be hooked up to a phone line for PPV or something like that.

Ours is not hooked up to a phone line and works fine. You just cannot order PPVs from your remote, have to go online and do it that way.

Price went down and its still a complete rip off. Do you still have to pay $100 on top of that for the redzone?

Last year I called and complained and they let me get rid of sunday ticket and pay $100 for just the redzone which worked out great since that's all I want anyway.

Me again, I do have another question, does anybody have their internet service.

I am trying to get price info.

The way I am reading their website, to do it, they will give you a box, but you have to have internet with somebody else.

If that's true, don't know how good it would look to want to have their service, but the internet service with Comcast.

Any info would be appreciated.

I believe they have an alternate payment play, where they dispatch an associate directly to your house to fuck you in your ass. You might look into that.
