He has an assistant named Ty who looks exactly like you think he would.

I think it's a bit pedestrian to take issue with Martin's obesity. I'm more bemused by the fact he is always pictured in a Greek fisherman's hat.

Blackwater episode was written by Martin himself and said to have had a huge budget (compared to rest of the episodes). It will be episode 8. Giggity.

Got a 15% budget increase for that episode. Should be awesome, although like others:

SPOILERS in white:

I doubt we'll see Tyrion get too badly injured. Unlike his book counterpart, Tyrion's never been in a battle outside of shield-spiking a hill tribesman. I don't foresee him riding out into battle, but I could be wrong.

not true Dewskie, Tyrion was in a battle with his hill people vs Robb Starks auxilery force. His involvement only lasted about 10 seconds before he was knocked out by a low swinging hammer during the initial charge, but it doesn't change that he was put in charge of a unit of soldiers in a previous battle.

True but:

compared to the books where he wields an axe and gets a pretty high body count to his name, the show's brand of Tyrion is rather excluded from the fracas.

I imagine IMU is none too happy about tonight's episode. Can they even say this is based on the book anymore?

A great episode. And yes it still follows the books to a decent degree.

some stories follow the book, but some are becoming completely different such as Jon's. Arya's is also different, but that's moreso in terms of the characters she is interacting with as opposed to the plot.

I understand some of the decisions. Changing Arya's story the way they have makes sense, there's too many characters as it is so having her interact with some minor lord who no one will know who he is is not nearly as cool as having her interact with Lannister. And the people she killed are no more or less in consequential than the first two she killed in the book. So no harm no foul.

I also understand why they changed Robb's love interest. Bringing in a lone girl is a lot easier than bringing in her and her whole family. Also, having her be a foreigner takes out the confusing element of her family's allegience to Lanister. And it achieves the same purpose in the end (which I won't spoil here).

The one story that I don't understand the changes is Jon's. I don't see the benefit in having them go a completely different direction as they have. It leads me to believe they are going to wuss out on the big moment that evolves in the book very soon.

The one thing I didn't get is why they rushed the Winterfell storyline so much. Now it looks like Theon was there for 2 days before the escape as opposed to being there for a while like in the book. I think the show lost some perspective with the way they rushed that, but I understand some cuts need to be made to fit the whole book 2 into one season.

I understand most everything that's been done for tv and have zero problem with it.

The Daenerys story is the one that's bothering me.

great episode...this show is the shit...i knew someone was going to steal those dragons...i like kings landing going up for grabs,
only issue i have is that traitor grayjoy ...he has like 14 men...no way he should be able to take winterfell..there is 2 wolves there too.

I watched it last night and then again this morning. I enjoyed the episode quite a bit. I liked
seeing Tyrion putting the smackdown on King Joffrey. I am also glad that big beast bodyguard
saved the Stark girl from being raped with some serious violence. I have a pretty good idea
who has the dragons but not sure where that whole story line is going. Same feeling with the
Jon Snow storyline.

Stupid fucking asshole bullshit. What the flying fuck are they doing with Dany's story. Just because it was boring in book 2 doesnt mean you can make shit up. Fuckers. I also have a couple questions I will discuss in the spoiler thread.

Never read the book, dont give a shit about the book v the show. Sit here on Sunday nights with the latest GF who read the book and she complains too "thats not like the book"

Who gives a shit?

At the same time, can I get some god damn killing! Enough of his building up to some 5 way war!

Mother of Dragons, just let them grow up and destroy everyone so I can move on to True Blood and IMU can bitch about how that is not like the book either.

who took the dragons?..that creepy warlock?....that snow scene was pretty far fetched...there are what 4 or 5 guys in the group with snow?..no way they split up...dude would have said o.k..kill the red head and lets go...not catch up after you handle this....kalissi is annoying a hell and not attractive ..i am hoping she gets killed off.

The complete destruction of Daenerys Targaryen's character has been a disappointment.

Instead of being the strong driven leader, she's a weak girl who allows her children to be taken from her.

The Dany story is just kind of "there" for me, even in the books. She is just such a ghost of a character, travels around begging from ships and an army and whatever else. As long as they make the story more interesting I'm fine with it. I'm also pumped to see how they handle the Temple of the Undying and if they leave the foreshadowing in here travels inside of it.

Disclaimer: I'm only about 200 pages into A Storm of Swords but I know what happens in it.

Until the last two books it is my favorite story.

Don't forget whiny. No way she would have had that conversation with one of the Thirteen. Rakharo's whip would have been around his neck. Oh wait he died. The Dany character in the show is now completely different from the one in the book, I have no idea what they are doing.

i blame the casting..if she was more attractive ..maybe she is more likable....what is likable about her now? she is a bad leader who got her husband killed...she is with a band of gypsies traveling through the desert begging to be let in or die in the red waste.
