Oy.

I don't know what they are doing with her story but I do not like how they are portraying her to be some sniveling, whining and weak child. Her conversation with that midget on on the steps was pretty bad for her character. I'm thinking they may be doing this for the purpose of some dramatic change down the road or even in the Temple of the Undying.

Either way, the show is awesome. Not perfect but still pretty fucking good. If you want to have some "Dude, bro, the books are soooooooo much better, brah, you're only cool if you read the books" conversation please take to the ChicagoDouchebagMessageBoard. The show is the show and the books are the books. The show is 10 ep. and 1 hour a piece, the producers will do what they must, it will work sometimes, kinda work other times and not work at times. It's the way it is. Get it?

Thank You.

Oh shut the fuck up.

This isn't even about reducing scenes anymore. It is about completely changing the fucking story. Important plots are being totally reworked.

the bitch ain't fine.... i am sorry if you have lower standards... through 12 episodes or whatever they have shown she don't even make the top 50 finest women shown and she is one of the stars..that is bad casting... i did not read the books but they seem to cutting corners and rushing things...why not make episodes that are actually an hour? not 45 minutes and make more of them...the fan base is there and people will watch.

oh yeah, I somehow forgot about that one when I wrote my post. That one is strange, the only explanation I can come up with is they are trying to make something interesting happen to her this season to make up for how useless her storyline is in the book. The house of the undying as a big plot point might not translate well to tv and the regular audience. Hell, when I read it I was like WTF the whole time. I can see why they would want to go down a different path.

My guess is the black guy set the whole thing up and stole the dragons from his own house and is trying to make it look like someone else did it. (insert "of course shakes thinks its the black guy" joke here).

Im waiting to see how it all plays out before I condem it.

The one that really bothers me is the Jon Snow deviation, I really don't see the point to that.

I def. agree with that. It may have a point in the long run but right now it seems, well, pointless. I don't want to spoil things but I will use the SPOILER TAG.

*************SPOILERS BELOW****************

Are they really going to skip him having to kill Halfhand and go turncloack in Mance Rayders group? Or the conversation about "you learn something about people blah blah now I know more about you" talk he had with him? I hope these are still incorporated.

I did get a kick out of them have Yigritte trying to "wake Jon Snows wold" when lying side by side.

END SPOILERS

Mother of Dragons, just let them grow up and destroy everyone so I can move on to True Blood and IMU can bitch about how that is not like the book either.

When you sit down for a meal of excellent homemade BBQ, and someone puts Famous Dave's in front of you, would you be happy?

No, but that has nothing to do with a book you didnt write. (Unless I missed something)

No, the story is still great. But, you were expecting the exact same story you came to love in the book and now you're mad because they have deviated from that.....just as I was with Walking Dead...and you gave me all sorts of shit for that.

Then you tried to dig out of your hypocrisy hole by saying its different from WD because Martin "said" that the show would be a faithful adaption of books and now you feel like you've been misled.

So here is my question for you........do you or anyone know what Martin himself thinks of the changes in season 2? If he doesn't have a problem with it then you have no right to have a problem with it and you're exactly what you were accused of being, a fanboy hypocrite who didn't get his tv show made to his liking...just like me for WD.

Good point Shakes. I would be very interested to know how Martin feels about this season. I would guess that he is happy as a pig in shit. If that is the case then he doesnt really have a clue how the books are going to conclude. That sucks because he put a hell of a foundation down with the first 3.

I forgot about that. So she was trying to spoon with Snow and get him all hot and bothered?
That is what is seemed like to me but wasn't sure. His reaction was pretty damn funny.

I have talked to a couple of people that have stopped watching. They didnt read the books and have hated this season. So if you are going to piss off the fanboys, you at least need to make it interesting for people that know nothing about the show.

Martin and his publishing company have to be seeing a nice spike in sales of all the books. I had
never even heard of these books before the show came out so I am just liking it for what it is and
kind of filling in some of the gaps by what you guys have discussed about the original storyline.

I don't think they'll skip Jon Snow and Halfhand.

Hank, I think GRRM has the same problem as most authors of long series. He starts out writing without really knowing if there will be an audience for the work. Then when it catches on, the panic sets in. See King, Stephen: Dark Tower, The.

Schwartzenagger is definitely a b actor.

So was Emilio Estevez, Gary Sinise, Johnny Depo, Christopher Walken, Sissy Spacek, Ian McKellan, etc.

Well, for TV shows especially ones on the cable premium channels it is kind of the same thing. The creator will write, producer, think through the first season because he/she isn't sure it will be picked up for a 2nd/3rd etc. So after the 1st is done it's anyone's guess as to where it's going or if it is even going anywhere.

Not all shows but I'm willing to bet it happens to many.

not b actors...but the film sucked ..having stars does not mean it is quality...most of kings books turned movies are bad with mostly b actors....

I think that most writers sit down with a large story arc in mind. They may go away from it occasionally but it is always there. In the case of Martin and King, they never had more than the beginning but their talents covered up the fact that they were bullshitting as they went along. Eventually bullshitting can only take you so far when you put a 7 book limit on things. You could tell King still wanted to write about Roland and the gang but he HAD to finish the story. And now he is writing another one just to get back to the point of the story where it was still good.

I think King and Martin would be happy just writing all their books like the first 3 of their epic series and never have them end. People dont want that though, we want to know what happens. We dont even care if you make the bad guy win. We just dont want the good guys to win through a series of deux ex machinas like fucking King threw into DT 7. I can see the 7th GoT book ending in a similiar way. Everyone gets married the dragons fly over the ocean and they all sign a peace accord in the Red Keep over some lemony buttered capons.

Those capons better be accompanied by a thick steaming beef onion stew poured into large breaded trenchers, oat cakes on the side, dornish wine, tarts and the like.

Hank, if you're not bright enough to figure out what comments you post have spoiler implications and which ones don't I suggest you keep your posts to the book thread (where you've also spoiled stuff from later books without warning those of us still reading book 3).
