From todays broadcast The greatest opening spring training meeting I think I ever heard was from Dick Williams in 1968 . Hawk is priceless sometimes.

Its almost as if that has become his trademark over the last 18-24 months. Its strange, but he's getting older and presumably a little more "not with it" every year so I just take it for what it is. I think it kinda started with the Wise catch during Buerhle's perfecto; "Under the circumstances, one of the best catches I have ever seen!"

The funniest of those is when I heard him say that the "weather for Spring Training is the best I have ever seen in all my years in baseball," though I can't remember if he was talking about this year or last year.

Just caught the last few minutes of the Score's golf show with Olkin / Sherman and they had Hawk on to regale the masses with some golf stories. He did leave us with a " The best course in Illinois is Bolingbrook golf club". Don't know if that counts.

Some stiff on the Royals last night, I don't even remember who it was, is "the best left-hander in baseball at covering the outside of the plate". He then struck out on one low and away.
