Thanks roger for reminding us of this thread.

I was watching the game last Sunday, and he said "This is the best spring training weather I have ever seen in my (however long its been) years in this game."
:lol: :lol:

"I'll tell you what, before Pete Rose ran him over, the best catcher I ever saw was that man right there- Ray Fosse. And I owe that man a debt of gratitude. When Aris was pregnant with Casey, Casey just wouldn't come out. You know how boys are. My daughter Krista was easy. Full count on Tanks. But Ray, old Ray he performed the caesarean right there in our clubhouse. Strike three looking. He knew it. Ya know the best I ever saw performing a c-section? Yaz."

Why are soft flies 310 feet to center a "ball hit hard" to Hawk? :scratch:

Regarding Paulie's solo HR on Monday nite;

Off a right handed hitter to the opposite field, that is the quickest I have ever seen a ball leave the ballpark.

:lol: :lol: Why does everything have to be the 'insert superlative' that he has ever seen? Can't he just say "That ball got out of the ballpark quick. What a great HR from Paulie!!"

Its almost as if that has become his trademark over the last 18-24 months. Its strange, but he's getting older and presumably a little more "not with it" every year so I just take it for what it is. I think it kinda started with the Wise catch during Buerhle's perfecto; "Under the circumstances, one of the best catches I have ever seen!"

The funniest of those is when I heard him say that the "weather for Spring Training is the best I have ever seen in all my years in baseball," though I can't remember if he was talking about this year or last year. :lol: :lol:

That's not all that far out there though. That would be like him saying the best hitter he ever saw was Ted Williams.

Was just going with the title too literally I guess. We did get treated to a Tony Conigliaro followed up 30 seconds later with a Sam McDowell reference today though, fwiw.

Just caught the last few minutes of the Score's golf show with Olkin / Sherman and they had Hawk on to regale the masses with some golf stories. He did leave us with a " The best course in Illinois is Bolingbrook golf club". Don't know if that counts.

Some stiff on the Royals last night, I don't even remember who it was, is "the best left-hander in baseball at covering the outside of the plate". He then struck out on one low and away.
