Based on performance, sure. But nobody - players, management, fans - wanted Zambrano back. It didn't make a lot of financial sense to keep a multi-million dollar setup man in the bullpen. So they moved Marshall, Cincinnati picked up the tab, and maybe Wood or Torreyes will pan out.

Based on my logic, you could easily argue the Wood signing. I would agree with that argument. That was a move made to appease the masses from Iowa and downstate. And probably Tom Ricketts.

They've played better in the last couple weeks, which helps.

Vs. pretty much all of the best teams in the NL too. Which helps. More.

Very true. Not having the two turds, Ramirez and Big Z, is a contributing factor, as well.

Agreed.

It also helps that Quade/Hendry/ARam/Z, etc. are gone. Now if only they would jettison Soriano and get Rizzo/BJax up here...

Cardenas is getting the start at 2nd tonight and he is batting 8th. I wish Swaimer gave him a better spot in the lineup. He isn't going to see many good pitches hitting in front of the pitcher.

I don't like Soto...but to ring him up on that outside pitch after fouling off a 8 or so pitches is bullshit.

Bob is giving it to Castro for a shitty mindless waste of an AB. I was saying the same thing...give him a few pitches to steal 2nd.

Kerry Wood got paid by the Cubs to bring back the meatball Cub fans that were worried about this team. Who cares if the team is going thru a rebuilding phase as long as I get to see Kerry Wood pitch the 8th all is fine in the world.

Thow a fucking srike Wood. Jesus

Wood's best toss of the evening was the glove into the stands.

I thought that was his glove but my wife flipped the channel so I couldn't rewind it to see if that was in fact his glove.

Big Z would be suspended for that.

That's the second time I've seen Svuem argue a call and he really gets in the umpires face. That can't be very pleasant for the umpire because Svuem looks like someone that would have bad breath.

Swaimer looks like he came straight from the engine room of a WWII battleship. I wouldn't mess with him.

Hopefully the uniform is next and he can walk the fuck away. He's done IMO. I mean that he provides nothing for this teams present or future.

She suffered through the actual inning so I can hardly be upset.

This is getting confusing. The Cubs sent down Travis Wood and kept Travesty Wood?

Kerry Wood acts like a bitch.

"@CSNMooney: Kerry Wood postgame ends 50 seconds in, when reporter mentions glove: “Irrelevant, dude, and why the (bleep) would you even bring that up?”"

The fans didnt even boo him and he couldnt hit the side of a fucking barn.....again. No reason to chuck the glove that hard into the stands. He could have knocked that birthday hat off the nice old woman in the stands. Thats not cool.

Not that I could tell. The were just being loud as it was the 8th inning of a 1-1 game, but I didn't hear any booing.
